Half term wasted

I know we are in a lockdown here in the UK, however I feel that this half term has been wasted...I havent done anything with my 3 children...3,8 and 10. To be honest with work and homeschooling the last couple months I was glad of the break, but I just feel guilty on the kids. The middle boy is quite challenging and we cant really have a nice day out without him being too boisterous and ruining the day, happens most times we go out and so this has put me off. A simple walk can turn into a slanging match. But at home, I havent done anything with them, they have spent most of the time on either their laptop or tablet or watcing tv. I dont tend to let them do this during the week because we are too busy with homeschooling. I want to try and get into a routine but I just havent the motivation. I cant leave a room with them all in as it will be trashed! Any advice?? Whats your weekend and homeschool evening routine like?? Thanks for any help

We've hardly done anything either. Nobody has. There is nothing you can really do and the children are all tired from homeschooling and lockdown and need a break. We just walked about the local area and went to the playpark. That was it. What else can you do at the moment?

You have. You have recharged. Be kind to yourself

Agree no one has done anything. A break from homeschooling is so essential letting them be children is important.

It was half term and meant to be a holiday for your DC - you shouldn't feel bad that they've had a break doing their own thing, that's the point of having a break from schooling. You needed and deserved a break as well, so you really shouldn't feel guilty.

Thank you all so much for your replies. I have enjoyed the break, we all have....The kids whinged when we had to go out for shopping so I guess they would have snubbed at the idea of a walk too! Only because they would rather stare at a screen all day Blush oh well, back to it on Monday! I go to work for a break, and even thats working with children! Other peoples children are sooo much easier!

Honestly, what choice do we have? Your kids are loved, they are fed, they are warm. It's not nothing. There are millions of parents (me included) feeling as you do. I'd love to say I came up with amazing ideas, but I didn't, and I'm the person who once hand wrote 30 Harry Potter invites in calligraphy.

We're surviving a pandemic. It's shit. Give yourself a break and keep your fingers crossed the euros will be better by Easter. Hugs though - I know how you feel.

It is not the best half term to do a lot in normal circumstances as a lot of things are shut for the winter and the weather is normally rubbish. This for me is the worst half term of school year in that respect.

I really wouldn't worry, me and my dc did exactly the same. Like you we welcomed the break from homeschooling. There isn't anything to do anyway we haven't already tried, such as parks, baking, art that we are bored of it already. To be quite honest we've all enjoyed lazing about watching tv and eating. Give yourself a break
