Does it look like my little princess will have red hair

My baby is 4 months old. She doesn’t have too much hair at all, myself and her dad are both dark haired and our baby girl looks reddish to me? Her dad thinks strawberry blonde? Just wanted to see others opinion? Will our little lady grow into full red hair or is it to early to tell at this stage as I heard people saying hair colour can change. And just to add no matter what hair colour our daughter ends up with it’ll be beautiful. Thanks 😊

This is the second time I have posted this question. And I have attached more pictures this time to try get more accurate opinion of what people think her hair colour is.
What is the harm I have asked the question for a second time? What is the point answering when it is just to badger me and say I am ashamed of red hair etc who are you people? I literally asked a question for people to voice opinion on my baby hair colour and that’s it. Why does it always need to turn into an attack from the same users on mumsnet. Anyway thanks to everyone else who gave a proper answer.
As I said I couldn’t care less what colour my baby girl hair is she’s beautiful and always will be.

You care enough to repeatedly ask strangers on the internet.

@LaMarschallin thanks I bought a special brush and it pretty much got the dry skin off her head

I would guess dark hair from those pictures. My husband and I are both mousey brown haired but both of our children are very blond at the moment. I think they'll grow out of it as they get older.

JackieWeaverIsTheAuthority · 19/02/2021 15:12

You haven’t been attacked Op. I know this was your claim the last time too when people mentioned your baby’s cradle cap. No one was attacking you then, and no one is attacking you now.

xMandy31x · 19/02/2021 15:14

@JackieWeaverIsTheAuthority ok haha

My 2 boys both had strawberry blond/ gingery hair (the youngest more so). Both ended up very blonde as toddlers. My eldest is now dark blond. Youngest still blond but getting darker as he gets older.

LaMarschallin · 19/02/2021 15:16

What is the harm I have asked the question for a second time?

There's no harm. It does seem odd though, like you want a particular answer that you didn't get last time.

It's really hard to tell how a baby's hair colour will turn out. If your child's is light at 4 months, it's unlikely she will turn jet black later.
But, as I say, I had black hair when I was born; mouse now.
My daughters had blonde hair; now one is dark blonde and the other mid-brown (when I catch it between dye jobs).
My DH was born blonde and stayed so into his toddler days. Became very dark brown.

Niece was blonde; grown up now and ginger.

I think people don't understand why it matters so much to you and are trying to explain that it's impossible to guess how she'll turn out.

Mylittlesandwich · 19/02/2021 15:16

I was getting a bit of deja vu when I started reading OP.

DS was born with dark brown hair. It's now golden blonde. He's 14 months and I expect it'll go back to dark brown as my hair is dark and so is DHs. Anything is still possible OP.

"JackieWeaverIsTheAuthority

I’m wondering if there is a question over paternity and OP is trying to guess the answer by hair colour."

I can see why the OP might feel attacked when she's getting unnecessary and judgemental comments like this one.

JackieWeaverIsTheAuthority · 19/02/2021 15:21

It’s neither attacking or judgemental to wonder why OP is so obsessed with her child’s hair colour.

AndreaMartelsCoat · 19/02/2021 15:22

I can see why the OP might feel attacked when she's getting unnecessary and judgemental comments like this one.

But this isn't the first time she's asked, she got very defensive on previous threads and lots of us were baffled. It was like,
OP, AIBU?
Everyone, Yes
OP, I'm not being unreasonable though

I love my baby hair colour no matter how many changes it goes through! I guess with myself and dad being dark hair we were surprised at her fair hair but now that I think about it my dad’s sister has beautiful red hair so maybe she get it from that. I can’t believe she is 4 months already ! We just so in love with her😍

I did not get very defensive haha oh gosh some people on here, Hilarious.
Unbelievable.

It looks more like light brown to me. If she was going to grow into a red head then I would expect the hair to look more obviously red.

But a baby’s hair colour can change as they grow older. My DC have darker hair now than they did as babies.

CatRamsey · 19/02/2021 15:26

My niece and nephew have bright orange hair and they had it from the moment they popped out! Your dd does seem to have a little bit of red though, so yes perhaps strawberry blonde?

Hextopus · 19/02/2021 15:27

My DS had the same colour hair as your DD for the first year of his life. It gradually got darker and darker blonde and is now quite dark brown (which is what we expected really as both me and DP have dark brown hair).

LaMarschallin · 19/02/2021 15:28

now that I think about it my dad’s sister has beautiful red hair so maybe she get it from that.

Well, there you go!

The niece I mentioned upthread has a very dark haired mother and a father with light brown hair, but a red-haired grandfather.

Look at prince Harry - his uncle has the red-hair gene just as your aunt does.

Glad that you're such a happy family and enjoying your lovely daughter.

‘Princess’, ‘little lady’, NO. It’s 2021 not 1951.

xMandy31x · 19/02/2021 15:30

@LaMarschallin thank you, we are first time parents, learning on the job, I have become a nappy changing expert now haha we definitely want another baby in future! 😊

Kollamoolitumarellipawkyrollo · 19/02/2021 15:31

Are you worried she’ll have red hair because you both are dark?

xMandy31x · 19/02/2021 15:31

@IsThePopeCatholic sorry if I offended you by saying princess and little lady. Apologies.

VienneseWhirligig · 19/02/2021 15:32

DS was ginger haired when he was born, by the time he was 5 it was mouse coloured and now he has quite dark hair, but with ginger highlights in the sun, and ginger facial hair. His older brother is full on ginger, really bright red.

Fair hair - whether blond or red - tends to be a recessive trait though. Just means there’s a fair haired ancestor on both sides 🤷‍♀️

And in both my and DH’s family there’s quite a few adults with dark hair who were very blond babies / toddlers.
