How much milk at 12 months and still bf?

My daughter has just turned one and currently has a boob feed just after she has woken up and just before bed. She also has a 200ml bottle of formula after her long lunch nap. She always really enjoys her afternoon bottle and drinks the whole thing. I don't know how much breast milk she's getting (obviously) but she is on and off the boob for about 20 minutes in the morning and about ten minutes in the evening before she falls asleep. I'm not sure if I should be dropping the afternoon formula feed or not? She eats 3 good meals a day and sometimes a small snack in between so her milk feeds aren't interfering with her appetite.

You could try offering cows milk in a cup instead

My DD had similar bf feeds to you, plus milk or yoghurt with cereal in the morning, probably a little cheese at another meal, and a smallish cup of milk. I think I read they need 3 portions of dairy, but it can be any type, not just milk itself. Full fat cow's milk.

At 12 months the bottle should be going. Our paediatric dietitian said when Lib is down to 2 bf feeds a day we need to make sure she has 350 mg of calcium in her diet.

@PlantDoctor @Thatwentbadly thanks for commenting. She has cheese and yoghurt too and milk on her weetabix when she has them so I'm sure she's getting enough calcium. What's the harm in her still having her afternoon milk do you think if she still enjoys it and is eating enough solids? I don't mind weaning her off it if she needs me to but I don't want to deprive her of something she likes unnecessarily if I don't have to 😌

I don't think they are meant to have bottles after 1 as it can damage their teeth.

It’s damage of milk sitting on her teeth which is the problem. It’s fine for her to have the milk from a cup.

The issue isn’t the milk itself but the bottle. Would she have it from a cup?
But I know afew kids who still had a nighttime bottle at 2 and their teeth are fine.
If it’s her comfort then just keep an eye on teeth.
