Baby wakes up screaming

My Baby is 10 months and goes down for night time sleep fine. looks so peaceful and having a really great sleep and then 30 minutes later eyes open for 1 second and the screaming starts. i cant work out why this is happening. every night without fail after 30 minutes.
I've tried so many different things but nothing seems to make a difference. it could then take another half and hour or more to get baby back over again and then its not for very long until crying again. i just dont know what else to try and hate seeing the great sleep interrupted. also I'm then getting zero time to myself going up and down all night

What’s the gap between the last nap and bedtime? Sounds like classic overtiredness.

I'm in exactly the same boat with my 6 month old!

@FizzingWhizzbee123 last nap finishes around 3pm give or take and i aim for bedtime between 7.30 and 8. last night i tried taking her up for 7 but then it took her until about 7.45 to actually fall asleep. seems like it takes her longer to fall asleep the earlier i take her up

@Lenny1987 yes this has been going on for quite some time and it really wrecks me because i just want to know what's wrong! I mean if she was moving through sleep cycles that's fair enough but I dont know why with the screaming!

Assuming she’s on 2 naps a day, I’d aim for the 2/3/4 wake window approach.

Something like
7am awake
9am 1 hr nap
10-1 awake
1pm 2 hr nap
3-7pm awake
7pm bed

I’d stick with trying for a 4hr wake window after the last nap, so asleep by 7. At a push, asleep by 7.30 latest but I’d be aiming for 7. So actually asleep by 7, not going into bed. Trying putting her down at 6.45. Try it for a week and see if it helps.

@Nova324 yes I feel exactly the same. I did read somewhere they are less likely to wake screaming if they go to sleep themselves, though I have tried this and it has made no difference. I'm following with interest if anyone has any suggestions.
