first birthday present - no toys no clothes?!

My best friend’s daughter will be one next month and I’m really struggling to come up with a present for her! I asked my friend what she’d like and she said she honestly couldn’t think of anything.

I asked about toys but her little girl isn’t into them and the ones she got for Christmas haven’t been opened. Her favourite thing to do is open and empty bags and cupboards but I’m struggling to find any toys with a similar theme that she would enjoy?

She also has clothes for the next three sizes all purchased and boxed away so she doesn’t need clothes!

They live in a smaller space that’s lacking storage so I don’t want to buy anything huge/bulky that’s going to take up space. My budget is about £30. Has anyone got any ideas? I mentioned looking for emptying/filling toys to my friend who said she’d love that but I’m struggling to find any!

TIA

I got my DD1 books from Wonderbly and they are lovely quality. She’s 7 so I got her the Where Am I? books (Where’s Wally? style) but they do books for younger children too.

Books. Always books.

And if the parent says no to that, abduct the child. (Joke, obviously.)

Jewelry for when she is older? I bought a diamond and some gold as a christening present to be made into jewelry when the child is 18.

A scrapbook / journal with a pic of you and one of her to be filled in over the next year?

If you get a book you could frame it so it's a picture on her wall now but can be read when older.

Premium bonds? I'm not sure of the minimum investment, it could be too much but you could get some shares, she can't play with them but pic carefully and it could be a nest egg.

Does the baby have a bank account, you could contribute to that.

How about a nice melamine meal set.

Books, maybe a nice set. Or if she’s into opening doors mine loves the Melissa and Doug lock board.

Our twin girls loved the Fisher price laugh and learn my smart purse activity toy.
It has sounds/music, keys, bank card, mirror, mobile phone and bracelet.

Have a look at “Where’s mr Lion” felt flap books. They are very nice.
