Cot mattress, which type?

I am on a really tigh budget and have to buy a cot mattress as dd is rapidly outgrowing her crib. Is there a problem with using the foam ones as they are so much cheaper than the sprung ones?. I dont want to be a cheapskate if she is going to suffer as a result but dont want to fork out £60+ if I dont really need to.

my two both just had the standard foam ones, came as standard with the cot....i think its just like the difference between adult sized mattresses....difference between standard sprung and luxury memoryfoam stuff!!!

I had sprung one from m&p. hated it because it didn't have a cover and couldn't wash it properly. Due to dd refusing to wear nappy in bed I now have foam plastic covered from mothercare and think its much better/more practical. I wanted foam originally because I had one for ds and liked it but it was out of stock so paid fortune for m&p.

I've just bought a sprung mattress for dd's cotbed. WE have a foam mattress but thought a sprung one might be more suppostive now she is heavier etc. it cost about 48 pound from www.babymattressesonline.co.uk/welcome.html and that was including delivery. It also has a sort of waterproof removable outer cover that can be washed.
We havent used it yet though, still waiting for horrid vomiting bug to stop first!!

I would spend as much as you can afford. baby is going to spend a lot of time in their cot.

Our children all had a new mattress each at £90. They all had 2 years use, and while it is rec you don't buy a second hand one, ours are all in good nick if interested.
