How do I stop nappies leaking

Hi everyone. I have an 8 month old who is trying her best to sleep all through the night. She goes to bed around 7/7.30pm but every morning for the past week she has woke around 4am absolutely soaking wet. Poor soul is peeing right through her vest, sleep suits and sleeping bag. I'm exhausted changing her and her bedding, by the time she settles I'm awake for the day.

What is best to try and go a full 12 hours of dryness? So far I've tried doubling up the nappies (one on normal then one on backwards) cloth nappies (miosolo) and pampers. She's peed through them all.
Nappies we normally use are Asda, Lidl and Aldi own brand.

I find Asda/Lidl/Aldi nappies rubbish

Check what size she is in and maybe size up?

bananabob · 10/02/2021 05:43

I used a pampers nappy and put a tots bots waterproof wrap with a peenut pad over the top of the pampers. It's the only thing that's stopped my baby leaking overnight and he was soaking through his clothes/sleeping bag every night before I started doing this!

For mine its been a sign that its time for the next size up. I like tesco nappies and have found these the best along with aldi

They've been perfect for her until this week. What brands do you find work? She's in a size 4 was weighed 2 weeks ago at 9.7kg so within the weight range and the nappies aren't too tight on her

Does she need a bigger size?

cliffdiver · 10/02/2021 06:09

Have you tried the same size but + ?

The + is added absorbency.

I always used Pampers - hardly any leaks.

FigDate · 10/02/2021 06:10

Yes, but generally the bigger the nappy the higher the absorbency.

WineInTheWillows · 10/02/2021 06:12

Size up, + size, double-bag with a pull up on the outside?

WineInTheWillows · 10/02/2021 06:14

Also, make up her mattress with a protector, then a sheet on top, then another protector, then another sheet on top.

Then, if there are leaks, just whip off the top two layers and you're good to go.

camui17 · 10/02/2021 06:47

Thanks everyone will try a bigger size and see if it helps tonight. I've spent a small fortune in nappies this week, something has to work!

I used Bambo nappies at night. Sipper absorbent, never leaked with 2 babies. They are not cheap, but just using 1 a night they last a while. I could only ever find them online, and do travel size trial packs if you want to try them out before buying a big pack.

Bambo

LunaLula83 · 10/02/2021 07:20

I'd say you need to go bigger. Aldi nappies fantastic for us. Always leaked in pampers. It's funny isn't it how different brands work better for different babies

Ticklemynickel · 10/02/2021 07:29

Bigger nappy
Check vest/sleepsuit aren't tight causing compression leaks
Develop ninja nappy changing skills and change her when you go to bed.

NeedCoffeeToSurvive · 10/02/2021 07:48

If you're finding they leak regularly I'd suggest a size up and/or different brand.

I'd highly recommend Sainsbury's Little ones nappies, they're the only ones we've never had leaking with, and the whole back, front and flaps are stretchy so they fit fantastically.

OpposableThumbs2 · 10/02/2021 08:07

My DDs never reached the top right stage in a nappy as they are tall and skinny but the did grow out of the nappies length ways. Also, I used to put a second nappy over the top of the first at night which stopped the leaks.

BellaNutella88 · 10/02/2021 08:09

We had this problem and are having it again now at 18 months. We have sworn by pampers nappy pants for quite a quite but when we did size up they were suddenly not fitting as well. Last night we tried an Asda nappy pant in his old size and he has slept for 13 hours ! I think it’s trial and error finding a nappy that fits well. We use sainsburys nappies for during the day and really like them. I just prefer nappy pants for bedtime. Good luck !

drspouse · 10/02/2021 08:10

Definitely use a waterproof wrap over the top.

MangoM · 10/02/2021 08:12

Also, if they still leak with the larger or plus size, you could pull the front up slightly higher than normal for the night nappy. Our overnight nappy used to leak up his tummy pretty much every night but doing this has helped.

Hi everyone, just updating for anyone that comes across this in the future. She's far too wee for the size 5 nappies but we've found some success with wearing a size 4+ then a size 5+ on top of it (put on backwards). She started teething again and pooing in the middle of the night so haven't had to change the bed for a few days now 😂 thanks all for the advice
