Severe Nappy Rash

Where / who can I approach to get an informed opinion on my 2yo’s ‘nappy rash’?

Without going into detail, a trip to the docs isn’t an option. The 2yo’s other parent is adamant it’s just nappy rash. I think otherwise, and can be easily made better. The situation is fraught to say the least as frustrating as it is.

Is there some sort of online paediatrician site?

(I’m assuming I can’t post the pics due to obvious reasons.)

If you're in the uk and your surgery is signed up to 'Livi' you can get nhs video appointments free - have a look on your practices website

My DD had severe nappy rash when she was 1. I described it to the pharmacist who prescribed something which cleared it up.

Nappy rash is exacerbated by the urine mixing with faeces.

You need to keep dc out of nappies as much as possible.

Can use things such as barrier cream etc,
Call the pharmacist
Call the Gp to prescribe something over the phone

Nappy rash can become so bad that needs steroid cream to resolve
Imagine the pain and discomfort the dc must be in and do whatever you need to to ensure the dc is treated well

Thank you, I can get the nappy rash to heal easily, unfortunately they keep coming back to me with severe nappy rash. Making the other parent realise it’s preventable is another matter, especially when their mother also claims it’s perfectly normal especially if their urine is strong.

Can't answer your q op, though hvs are supposed to be accessible up until the child is school age. Just commenting to say how hard that must be for you. Awful to have to hand over when you know they won't be taken care of properly. Am sure you're photographing it and documenting it. Can you making the other parent aware you are doing this encourage them to take it seriously?

I don't want to sound harsh but if it was me I would take the child to the doctors whether or not the other parent agrees.

I don’t know exactly why you can’t take her to the GP, but could you call 111? We did this a few months ago at the weekend when DD’s was very bad. We were prescribed some cream when a Dr called us back.
