Having done all of the first year vaccinations I'd say it's upsetting to see your little one upset but it usually subsided quickly after a cuddle. I'd recommend having Calpol on standby as one of the first injections can make them have a fever but my one didn't have the fever but was unsettled that evening. It's worth having a conversation with the nurse to see when they'd recommend taking it.

Recommendation is to give Calpol right away to try and prevent fever developing which is very common with the Men B jab. With DC1 I'd never given it before so had no idea how and it ended up mostly all over the carpet. He did get a fever and was very cranky.

DC2 I was much more expert in the ways of the oral syringe and she got her whole first dose, then no fever or reaction at all.

The nurse who done my DD’s jabs told me not to give Calpol unless she gets a fever... she ended up with a 38.8 fever so for the next jabs I gave Calpol as soon as we got home and she much better.

I've had 4 babies and I would say it just depends how they react. My first had a fever and slept all day, my second just slept and the other 2, you wouldn't even notice they'd had jabs. I give Calpol straight after.

Mine was pretty grumpy after his first jabs so I would recommend booking them for the afternoon so it's not to long until bedtime!
