Best Cbeebies shows for babies (please don't hate on me!)

Anticipating some negative comments here but I sit my baby in front of the TV for short periods of time occasionally when I REALLY need to get something done like have a shower and I've exhausted all my other options! Just an exhausted mum trying to get by 😩 However I've found that he's not interested in a lot of the shows on Cbeebies, especially the ones aimed at older children with lots of language and storylines as I think they go over his head a bit. It means I can't just put Cbeebies on and get in the shower because he ends up crying if the show changes and he doesn't like it 🙈 He likes ones with simpler language and lots of music/noises and bright colours like Yakka Dee, Twirlywoos and The Clangers, so I've series linked these on our Sky Box. Can anyone recommend any others for a bit of variety?

Whichever one you don't find annoying is the best one Grin

And there is no judgement. My DS is now 4 and I couldn't even begin to list all the stuff he has learnt from tv and YouTube. MN acts like children mindlessly stare in a zombie trance at screens but they are actually learning so much and it gives you a break. Win win.

@notlostjustexploring Go Jetters is my worst 🙈

I love go jetters and I learn something new each time. I secretly want to go to the go jet academy

mogtheexcellent · 09/02/2021 11:08

The early go jetters were better than the recent ones. I love octonauts and used to watch it every day when I had my breakfast after dropping DD at school

There's a cbeebies thing online with Olivia colman narrating. Its called daydreams or something like that. Lots of slow motion puddle jumping and leaves falling. Its good for pre nap times.

User97531 · 09/02/2021 11:23

@Tucancrossing no judgement from me! I was just wondering how old so can try pitch the recommendations better. Like my 3 year old is only just understanding Go Jetters so I wouldn't recommend that for your baby.

The Olivia Coleman thing mentioned up thread is nice I agree and yes to Baby Jake and Baby Club.

If you have Netflix then there's the delight that is Cocomelon Hmm which I sort of love and hate at the same time in that its awful but it occupies really well.

ElspethFlashman · 09/02/2021 11:43

I don't believe TV is the worst. Its very stimulating.

I don't allow them to have anything else other than TV. No tablets. So it's easy to turn the TV off and kick them out in the garden. Sure occasionally there are howls of protest but not that bad as it's just TV.

I dread the X box years to come. Holding out at long as possible.

Strawberries4days · 09/02/2021 11:56

No judgement, I think everyone is in the same boat with this Pandemic and horrible weather, there's only so much you can do!

My DD liked a bit of Mr Tumble at the start, Hey Duggee, Dog loves Books and yakidee. We've moved onto Netflix now so she likes Coco-melon, Peter rabbit and octonauts (that's like 45 mins long!) She's just turned 4 months old and we only do tv for like an hour in the morning, lunch and at tea time. Not cause of the negative but because shes so distracted when feeding and burping that I had enough! Her favourite show is Mickey Mouse clubhouse if you have Disney +.

Hope these help!

Milkshake on channel 5 every morning from about 6.30am is so cute. My baby likes this show about pirates and starfish on there at 8.40am Grin one about a monkey puppet straight after that makes him laugh out loud. Don’t beat yourself up about letting baby watch TV, it’s been a god send for me during lockdown when it’s just been too cold and wet to take baby outside where he would usually get lots of stimulation.

Brandysnapzzz · 09/02/2021 13:19

Twirlywoos! DC loves them and DH & I do too! He also likes Dip Dap and sometimes engages with Bing but not so often. Loves the Baby Club nursery rhymes too.

SBAM · 09/02/2021 13:36

Tik tak is good for babies, not much plot. We also like Sarah and duck, it’s very calm and slow paced, and my little boy likes watching the compilations of Mr Tumbles nursery rhymes that are on YouTube for times when he’s more awake.

Alwaystired99 · 09/02/2021 15:24

No judgement at all, tv is a lifesaver at the moment. My 3 month old is fascinated by Baby Club on CBeebies, probably because as a lockdown baby she's never seen other babies! She also seems to like watching Alphablocks (also CBeebies) with her older brother. Sometimes she's crying for no apparent reason but stops when I put CBeebies on, amazing!

Megzmoo · 09/02/2021 15:34

My dd is 8 months old and watches tv when I need to get bits done, she loves in the night garden, teletubies, mr tumble, clangers and bing bunny.

I just record a few episodes and pop them on as and when needed, bing bunny is only about 5 minutes long

I think a little bit of tv is fine as long as they are getting interaction and play the rest of the time 😊

Hope that helps!

Ohalrightthen · 09/02/2021 15:35

Weird, and not baby TV, but DD LOVED ski Sunday at that age.

Whatthebloodyell · 09/02/2021 15:42

We watched nursery rhymes on you tube. There are a lot of very annoying you tube nursery rhyme videos, but I found some that I liked. Barefoot book nursery rhymes were my favourite and songs on Kidstv123.

HumphreyCobblers · 09/02/2021 16:41

DS watched the same baby Einstein dvd every day for a year. I sometimes wonder if the constant repetition of the same music helped him to retain his perfect pitch (which is theorised we all have but that most of lose as we grow up). Makes me laugh to think of it anyway, given how guilty I used to feel using tv on such a small child. He was a needy little thing!

Allthenumbers · 09/02/2021 19:11

Oh god no judgement. CBeebies is the best! Just coming on to say patchwork pals and kit and pup as they’ve not been mentioned!

Tik Tok also brilliant!

beanie44 · 09/02/2021 22:39

Hey, teletubbies, baby jake, numberblocks, or just baby shark on loop! My LO used to enjoy the adverts rather than the programmes at that age lol. Hope you find the magic programme that lets you get some self care x

Littlehouseinthebigcity · 09/02/2021 22:42

If you have Netflix or Amazon Prime my DD loves Peppa pig and has done since she was pretty tiny

Megan2018 · 09/02/2021 22:49

Moon and Me
Yakka Dee
Bing
Hey Duggee
Something Special

DD 17 months seems to like these best.

I love Moon and Me for some reason. I have a hatred of Peter Rabbit (even though we love the books). Peter is a knob.

Bing is infuriating but I do like it. I also sing Timmy Time on a loop but DD uninterested.

Megan2018 · 09/02/2021 22:51

Not Cbeebies but DD loves anything with farm animals in. We often watch This Farming Life (BBC) which is much more interesting for me!

Baby club. My 6 year-old who has autism loves it.

When my now 14 year old was a baby he used to love it when we watched the simpsons. I think it must have been the bright colours that he liked.

Henio · 09/02/2021 23:37

Sunny Bunnies is my dd absolute favourite
