Just that really.... on most site it says speak to your health visitor but just wondered if it’s not advisable to have it whilst breastfeeding? TIA! X

I've had it and BF they didn't question when I went in for it.

I think they don't advise having it unless risk of covid is high- I work in social care with people who can't socially distance so risk is high for me

I would love to know the answer to this too! I'm due to have it on Wednesday and feel so conflicted.

Yes you can!

I’ve had mine. Baby did not mutate 🙂

They recently changed the guidance. I had my vaccination 3 weeks ago and am still BFing.

I had mine. When I arrived, the form they gave me to fill in asked about pregnancy / breastfeeding and because I ticked yes, I had to see the doctor first. She said it was absolutely fine. I asked if maybe I should try to avoid feeding for a few days after and was told there was no need.

The short answer is yes.

"COVID-19 vaccines are not though to be a risk to the breastfeeding infant and the benefits of breastfeeding are well known. Because of this, the JCVI has recommended that the vaccine can be received whilst breastfeeding."

The Pfizer and Oxford ones they've said are okay, but with a bit of a woolly "can be given to breastfeeding mothers after consideration of the risk to the mother from Covid". Personal decision really.

Thanks everyone. Advice has obviously changed as remember it being a bit of a no no last year for pregnant and breastfeeding women. Good to know. Thank you xx

I know a few key workers who have had it. MyGP advised to get the Oxford jab if possible as it was adapted from long existing vaccine which is safe for pregnant and breastfeeding women.

Bear in mind that the guidelines in the place that are giving the vaccine might be different. Although the guidance from rcog and government say it’s ok, when I went for mine the hospital guidance said no. So I had to tell them I was stopping and they gave it to me 🙄 it was absolutely fine
