Baba and Boo nappies

We've just started using these last week, DS is 8 weeks.

No matter what I try we always seem to get leaks. Always at the legs. I've watched several videos on fitting, he's on the smallest rise, hip and waist settings since he's at the bottom end of the weight range but he gets awful sock marks. They do fade after 5/10 minutes.

I make sure the back is almost giving him a builder's bum, pull the side tabs up to his armpit and over, and squash the middle part when pulling it up and tuck it into his leg creases as best I can, however it always seems to have moved down his thighs when I come to take his nappy off.

I even emailed the company for advice and sent pictures but they said it looks good and just reiterated the things I'm already doing.

Has anybody else had the same problem with leaks? It's driving me nuts. The only thing I can think of is that I'm only using one booster as he's so little still, I didn't think I would need two yet but maybe I should give that a try?

What weight is he? 8 weeks is quite small still and Baba and Boo are really large cloth nappies - even the newborn ones are far bigger than standard newborn cloth.

I honestly thought they were huge. I used them for a little while when my little boy was about 4 months old.

He might be still too small for these..lots of cloth nappies are called Birth to potty but don't actually fit until 10-12 weeks up..

Here he is, he's at least 12 pounds so within their recommended weight but maybe not the ideal? Hopefully they fit better in a few weeks then.

Are you changing them more often than disposable? I’m two and a bit years into cloth nappies and am an evangelist for them, but the honest truth is that you need to change them much more frequently than disposables. I would never let mine be in one for more than two hours ish, frequently less time. This irritates some people, but I don’t mind because I think it’s pretty gross sitting in your own wee longer than that and I change poos straight away (I think everyone does?).
The only issue with that is that you need more of them which costs more, which could be an issue depending on your situation. I don’t have a dryer but find nappies dry really quickly on the radiator or hanging over the stairs.
Good luck and I hope you can make it work. They’re very cute nappies you have chosen!

I would say 8 weeks is still quite young. They are 'birth to potty' but really it's more like 8-12 weeks+. You may just want to try again in another month. They look quite hangy around the legs. Also, not every nappy fits every baby. Sometimes they are just shaped so that another brand would fit better.

We used Baba and Boo and I loved them and found they fit really well, but we only started somewhere between 8-12 weeks, so it may just need some time.

Fit looks good around waist but I think they might be still a bit too big long wise for him even on the smallest rise, I think when he wriggles and moves legs there are probably gaps around legs resulting in leaks I would try in couple of weeks, we used these when we started, my lo was around 4 months and they were great

Thanks all, will give it a few more weeks!

I can see how people can go a bit mad with the designs, I wish I hadn't gone on the website and seen the new wintery collection...

I found we were getting leaks out of the legholes because my daughter's vests were too tight over the bulky nappy, which was causing compression leaks. I started using vest extenders and we stopped getting the leaks.

I’ve had the same issue with my 10 week old - we’ve started using a thin hemp booster (as opposed to another insert which is just too bulky) and that’s helped.
