Please describe the routine if you have 6 - 10 year old's doing home school.

I try my best to work and provide home school, but I feel that we get almost nothing done at all.

Anyone have a good system :) also several webpages that needs logging into to do home schooling is a nightmare, different passwords and logins.

Wake up. Cry. Repeat Grin

In all seriousness though, I am following with interest because we have similar age children and demanding jobs and I feel like I have a lot of room for improvement!

I feel like Ds is getting very little attention because.Dd strings out all her school work and causes a lot of drama

Things that have helped us though:

  • passwords saved into devices as much as possible so they can login without too much hassle.
  • getting a tutor for English and maths support - this helps me feel less stressed by the minimal amount we are getting from school
  • using a lot of Outschool classes to stretch and interest DS who loves learning but much prefers live interaction outschool.com/?signup=true&usid=oJXLafjD&utm_campaign=share_invite_link (link gives a free class)
-setting up zoom calls so DD can chat to her friends
  • subscriptions to whizz pop bang (DS) and mud and bloom (DD) so that we can find quick and easy activities to do because I have very little brain power after cramming a day's work into half a day
  • organising my calendar with DH's each week so that (so far as we have any control) we dont have too many meetings that clash
  • working till ridiculously late at night in order to free up time in the day

I really struggle with giving DS enough attention though. He gets on with all his work while DD is far more dramatic about getting started, and it feels really unfair on him

Zoom live lessons at 9am, 10.30 and 1pm.....answers questions about the lesson after which takes about 15 mins each time. The rest of the time she can do as she pleases.

we have an 8 year old, an 11 year old, and both of us have fulltime jobs, though flexible and wfh at present.
I get up at 6am, work through to 8am when I wake up everyone else.
9-1 DH keeps an eye on the 8yo to do her maths and English and whatever else they can manage. I have the 11yo in the office with me but he works on his own stuff (secondary).
1-5 DH goes up to his office and works. I try and get the kids to finish their work, walk the dog etc.
5:30-6:30 dinner
7-7:30 I catch up on emails etc.
We're both shattered!
