Please help, poorly baby advice needed

Hi,

My baby is 20 weeks old today and is currently miserable with his teething (dribbling lots, grumpy, red cheeks, runny poo). Since his imms last Tuesday he has been even worse so I have been giving him calpol at night as that seems to be when he is most in pain with it. However last night he was up once an hour and i checked his temp at 3am and it was 37.7. Rang 111 discussed with them and advised to watch and wait.

Today he is still grumpy, tired from being up all night, temp is normal but I have been alternating between calpol and ibuprofen and just not himself. Do I get him checked out by the GP tomorrow morning or is this normal for an unwell baby? I forgot to mention his nose is also stuffy and streaming, and his dad currently has body aches and pains so I’m wondering if he’s also suffering with that..

Any advice would be welcome, thank you so much.

Contact your GP today. For a baby that age they should fit you in the same day. Here it would be a phone consult then a video call and an in-person if they think they need to see him.

If you’re worried, and you know him the best, then get him seen.

It’s so worrying when they’re poorly. My GP has always said they’d rather see you and reassure you that nothing is wrong than miss something.

I’d ring the GP.
Has dad had a covid test...

Hope you are all ok.

My baby had those exact symptoms a couple of weeks ago and I thought it was teething too but no teeth appeared and I tested positive for Covid shortly after so I’m pretty sure she had it as well. I’d call the GP just to check him checked out!
