What age most difficult

At what age did you find your children most difficult to parent?

My 3 year old is driving me absolutely nuts with all the backchat, the doing the opposite to what I ask, purposely lamping her sister for no reason. Just generally doing anything to get a rise.

This is definitely the hardest age for me. What about everyone else?

I found it difficult with all of them until 5.5. My DSs are 6 and 7 now and lovely. DD is 4 and a horror most of the time!

When they are young adults.

1-3 for both my kids. Up all night and all day!

Teens can be very hard. At least with babies, toddlers and children you can be fairly certain that they love you.

God, this thread is so depressing for someone finding it tough with wee ones, knowing I have something a million times worse ahead of me!

Ah, teens have their good moments too in amongst all the crap. And primary school years are great. Those lull you into a false sense of security that you’ve done it all right, only for your teens to later tell you that you’re doing it all wrong, have done it all wrong and you actually are a terrible person, to boot. But that’s just a phase too.

I read research about conflict between 13 year olds and parents. Turned out afterwards the teens were ok about it and the parents were MORE upset!

It helped me get over it quicker and essentially toughen up!

The joy of having chidren who can get themselves a drink, wipe up a spillage and feed themsrlves basic meals is immense! Hold onto that thought.
