Sleep regression?

Hi all,

DS is 14 weeks today and has always woken a couple of times to be fed in the night since birth (usually around 2am and 5am after a dream feed at 10.30pmish). Nights still weren’t great as there were noises and things inbetween so both me and DH were knackered most of the time. Last week, he finally started sleeping better and only waking once at 3/3.30am for a feed with no disturbances around it. Also I’ll note at this point that he never cries in the night, I always hear him fussing and drawing his hands to his mouth etc before he gets to the point so as I FF, always have chance to get a bottle and feed him with minimal disruption. We started to feel like things were picking up and he could potentially start sleeping through soon. However, the last three nights have been worse than ever...he’s been waking at 1, 4 and 6 and going from 0-100 quick meaning both me and DH are awake each time by his crying. He’s wanted feeding the first couple of times and the final time it’s like he just wakes up crying and needs calming back down and goes back to sleep a short while later.

I just feel gutted, we finally thought we were seeing a light at the end of the tunnel and now feel further back than square one!! Do you think this is early sleep regression or has anyone else had a similar experience and can advise please?

I’m sorry to say but only 3/4 wakes a night is actually pretty ‘easy’. Baby and toddler sleep isn’t linear it gets better and worse all the time. It’s normal for children to potential need you over night up the age of 7 years old. The best thing you can do is just go with the flow and not stress over it as it will be what it will be.

@Thatwentbadly thanks I know the case of little ones still not giving completely interrupted sleep...I have spent lots of time with my young nieces and nephews and am used to them clambering into my bed in the early hours or deciding 5am is their wake up on random days! However with mine, I’m more asking given that we had a week or so of clockwork behaviour with him doing those longer stretches to then all of a sudden having three wake ups as opposed to one in the same period for a few nights in a row, that’s why I’m wondering if it’s possible this could be the ‘4 month sleep regression’ hitting early? Or is there another developmental milestone around this point that’s the reason?

Yes it does sound like a sleep regression. My first was alway g and t when it came to sleep regressions and hit them all early.
