It should improve over the next few months. You can help by doing plenty of tummy time, keeping her upright in a sling or carrier, putting her in a chair, basically just not letting her lie on her back too much.

@Firsttimemummybear our little girl is similar; she's 10 weeks old. It looks very obvious to me but health visitor and doctor have both said it's not too bad and will very likely correct itself as she grows. Currently we do lots of tummy time, encourage her to be on her chest when cuddling with us, walk with her in a carrier rather than a pram, turn her head to the side when she's sleeping (but keeping her flat on her back) and we do use a special pillow when she's on her playmat or in the bouncer but under supervision only - the pillows don't seem to be recommended in the UK, I guess for the risk of suffocating if they turn their head into it hence why we only use it when we're watching her.

5 month old baby has a very flat head on the back in the centre. Just started cranial osteopathy, they recommended a

sleep curve mattress bit I’ve already spent money on a mattress and I wanted views on whether it’s worth the money?

Any help would be appreciated!

My sons head was really really flat…he hates tummy time and it was at an angle…HV told me not to worry about it and I drove myself wild reading stuff online about getting special £2k helmets and wonky ears in future…thank goodness I didn’t bother as he’s 16m now and absolutely nothing wrong with his head Blush to be fair his hair has grown loads now and covers the back of his head, but if medical professionals are telling you not to worry, then just wait it out Smile

Thank you so much that’s really good to know! I’m gonna complete the 3 session with the osteopath and then just give it time like you say.

The Helmets are terrifying!

DD had this. She was in NICU for three months so constantly lying on her back. Hospital did fit her for a helmet but I never used it as she got very upset when I put it on her. It looked more like a torture implement.

Also had cranial osteopathy which ended when she got too upset with it. The osteopath told me that it would probably resolve itself.

DD is now 14 and you would never tell. If you feel her head it does feel slightly flat at the back but is not in the least obvious when you look at her.

I wound myself into a frenzy about this with ds.
Pillows, insisted on tummy time even though he hated it.
Now age 13 his head is the same as everyone else's and I realize I really shouldn't have worried.
