we need some advice about
FORMULA.....

First question;
So we have been using aptamil pre made in a bottle so today we brought the aptamil formula power.
so the help we need is when you make up the bottles can I pre boil the water then add the formula when needed then warm up,
or can we boil the water, add the formula then put in the fridge for later? (and how long can I keep them for?)

also

second question;
how do you do the bottles when out and about??? as we have little pots for the powder but what do we do about the water?

please helppppppp

You must add the powder to hot water. The bottle can be then kept for 2 hours or 1 hour from when the baby starts starts drinking from it - it’s which ever is the shortest. Alternatively bottles can be cooled and kept in the back of the fridge for 24 hours.

Out and about it’s much easier to use the premade bottles.

I would consider a perfect prep machine for home. Make sure that you research and are happy with it but I wouldn't be without ours. I fill with cooled boiled water.

Out and about I carry a flask of boiling water and a bottle of cooled boiled water.
2oz of boiling water in the bottle, add formula and shake. Top up with cooled boiled water.

Agree with PP consider a perfect prep or a formula kettle for home as it will be so much easier/quicker.

Out and about, pre made is easiest but can get expensive (not that there is much out and about at the moment!!)

If you read the instructions it says to boil the kettle and leave it to cool for a while before adding the powder, otherwise it doesn’t mix properly and you get clumps of powder in the water.
For out and about we used to use a flask of boiling water and a bottle of cool boiled water. Mix the powder first and top up with the cool boiled, basically like a perfect prep machine would do. Meant the bottle would be ready to drink straight away but you have mixed the powder correctly too.

As for making them up I know it's not recommended now but I did it the old fashioned way. Emptied and refilled kettle, boiled it and left it to cool for 30 minutes to reach the correct temperature to make bottles, added the water then equivalent number of flat scoops of powder. Shook them well, then left to cool naturally at room temperature. When cool I stored them in the fridge, they can be kept for up to 24 hours. To warm up I used boiling water and a plastic jug (we had a flask that we filled with boiling water for going out).
I think it's so much easier than messing about making them as needed. And I know most people use the perfect prep machine but sorry to me that's laziness, you don't need a machine to make bottles in my opinion. I'd only ever make them the old fashioned way, regardless of what's recommended.

‘most people use the perfect prep machine but sorry to me that's laziness’

Who tf cares about laziness when you have a screaming baby at 3am!!!

I breastfeed but still bought a perfect prep for the times I did give formula - if it’s within your budget it’s a good investment, can always use it for other kids etc. Bottle made in 2 mins and don’t have to faff around waiting for kettles to cool.

Laughing at the 'laziness' comment. I have a perfect prep machine and zero guilt about it, but then I'm not one for competitive martyrdom or making things harder for myself! If you're full time formula feeding then they're a godsend, and yes I have tried it without (breastfed for a while, switched to formula the "old fashioned way", then bought a perfect prep).

Personally, I think a perfect prep is much safer than making up bottles with kettles (so long as you keep it clean etc). The chances of me 1) messing up the measurements or 2) pouring boiling water all over me (and baby) at 3am were both pretty high. Perfect prep totally removes that element of risk. Saying it's lazy is also like saying it's lazy to have a vacuum cleaner or washing machine...
