Introducing formula at 6 months

So my little one is coming up to 6 months and I want to slowly start to introduce formula, mainly so when I go back to work life will be a bit better easier and I produce zero milk when pumping so that’s not an option.

Is there a preferred way to do this? First feed to drop? Ideally I’d like to keep bf at night so only drop the daytime feeds. Also concerned that introducing formula and starting weaning he may get constipated? I know all formula milks have to be pretty much the same but if anyone has any recommendations that would be great.

Thanks 😊

All first stage formulas are the virtually the same. When are you going back to work?

We just did it one feed at a time as I wanted to wean off bf onto formula. I think I started with the mid morning feed and then maybe a week or 2 later added another one. I alternated between bottle and bf so that my boobs had time to adjust, but eventually I just fed morning and night and then only night and then eventually by 8/9 months we completely stopped. it definitely got to the point where I was only bf once a day and she clearly wasn’t that into it, so it was easy to stop. And I was happy to be done personally

My DD was used to a bottle though as we did one formula feed on an evening since birth.

Start with the mid morning one, then add the mid afternoon one, then add any night wakings, lastly add any lunch feeds and leave yourself with morning and night. Make sure you are using a relatively high flow teat and burp her well after. If she fusses, be persistent, it might take a week of you offering formula every day.
