Is he taking the right amount over 24 hours? Are his nappies wet?

Are you feeding him before he's hungry, or when he's a bit past it?

I know, lots of questions, but have a think.

Yes his nappies are very wet and he's pooping I feed him when he shows me his cues which is eating his hands trying to eat my face when I hold him

Well, you could leave it a touch longer so he takes it a bit more enthusiastically.

Or maybe his cues for being tired and being hungry is similar. He may not have worked it out himself, yet, because babies want to suckle to sleep just as much as they want to suckle to feed.

Maybe just keep watching his cues, but bear in mind when he last fed as well. So if he looks hungry and it's a while since he fed, feed him. If he fed not that long ago, but maybe needs a sleep, offer him a dummy and help him sleep.

I know it's tricky- they get easier, honestly!

Every feed? If so strip him off and feed in his nappy, 2oz or so at a time and more frequently so he's getting the amount he needs. Try holding him differently, sitting him more upright, talking to him, bright lights on

Try stroking along his jaw or the palm of his hand, it might not wake him up properly but should get him doing proper suckling where he's actually taking milk in again.

Breastfed? Mine was like this. He was also jaundiced, which made it extra important to wake him up and keep him feeding...

I’d persevere at that age to be honest, particularly if breastfed, as you need to keep milk production up.
