11 month old wants constant attention

My boy has just turned 11 months and he wants constant attention. Rarely he’ll crawl off and play with something but for the most part unless I’m sat playing with him, he’s eating or I’m holding him, he starts crying. This has been going on for a week or so. Anyone else? He’s full of smiles when I play with him but if I dare stand up to do something he’s back crying.

Someone please tell me it’s a phase.

Sounds fairly standard. Have you tried singing to him when you are trying to get things done?

It’s a phase. They get very clingy for a while when they work out that you are a separate person from them. It passes, I promise.

My 7 year old still wants constant attention.

Good point. Singing works when he’s upset in my arms, so of course it could work when he’s not. Will try it! For now, he’s asleep...

Have you got a sling? I use it round the house to get things done, although after about 45 mins my back gets fed up. I can put my 11 month DD in her playpen or highchair for about 15 minutes but only if I give her toys she doesn't usually get and she particularly likes.

My 11 month old is exactly the same and has been for about two weeks. She has been the same when I put her to bed. I'm hoping it will soon pass. She has never been a cuddly baby but just wants to be near me all of the time.
