My DS is nearly 4 and has turned into the devil child since finding his feet and confidence growing at pre school 😂🤦🏻‍♀️ I don't know where he's learning some of the things he's coming out with, he has started to say things like 'well then' if I say he can't do something, and he will answer back saying 'your silly' etc. Today the tv wouldn't work as our WiFi was down and he said 'this tv is rubbish Chuck it in the tip' 😂🤦🏻‍♀️ I know he's just being a typical child growing up and finding his feet testing boundaries etc but I find my self asking him to do something 4/5 times before he actually does it, and emir he's doing something wrong or naughty it takes me warning him 3 times before he actually listens and by that point I've needed up shouting at him 🤦🏻‍♀️
Today I shouted at him to behave and he just shouted back at me, so I'm hoping to get advice on some parenting books with good strategies of dealing with this type of common behaviour please?
I'd be so grateful for any recommendations or advice 🙂 Thank you 🍷😂

My 3.5!year old DS is like this. I've got no recommendations but I'm shamelessly following for advice and offering a bit of solidarity!

This evening, he threw a soaking wet flannel at me across the bathroom. I ended up having to apologise to him because by telling him off, I made him sad. He told me I was naughty and that I needed to say sorry, his younger brother was getting upset because of all the crying and screaming, so I ended up apologising. He told me I wasn't his best friend anymore and I was making everyone sad. Thanks DS!

Honestly, sometimes I wonder where I went wrong!

How to talk so little children listen

JiltedJohnsJulie · 23/01/2021 20:57

Today I shouted at him to behave and he just shouted back at me, well I think that's one important lesson you've learned today OP, just wish my DH would realise the connection...

Lots of what you say sound like pretty normal behaviour but if you want a book, try the No Cry Discipline Solution Smile
