Good trainer seat for boy?

Not having much joy with the potty with DS1, so thought I might try a trainer seat on the loo instead. Does anyone have any recommendations?
Not sure if its worth getting one with handles or not, would that help make him feel more secure or perhaps its too babyish? Any advice most welcome thanks!

Padded one with handles, imo and ime, but our loo has a stupidly narrow, quite sharp seat (it's like sitting on the rim without the seat down, grr!).

Thanks for that, any other ideas anyone?

I bought one that had a raised 'splash guard' type thing at the front and a raised back. He couldnt' get over the raised bits himself so defeated the object I think as he needed to be lifted on and off.
I bought a £1.99 little padded seat from Ethel Austin. it didn't last too long but long enough. I didn't get one with handles etc as the object of them is to get a child used to using the toilet, and a toilet doesn't have handles on iyswim.
And if he is used to a seat then take one out with you until he is confident to use a loo, I had a few screaming sessions from ds1 before I twigged what the problem was when we went out.

Bet you can't wait till you take him to the loo somewhere like Asda and Debenhams and you have a wee too - my newly potty trained son was shouting 'push your willy down mummy' at the top of his voice

I had real trouble trying to get my ds to sit on a potty or on the toilet, in the end i let him choose one (pooh bear, padded with handles from mothercare) it was a bit exie for what it was but i found that within a week he was confident on it, and now uses any potty and will use any toilet with out a potty seat as long as i hold him (just in case )

We have a Baby Bjorn one from John Lewis. It is nothing fancy to look at but has a little wheel at the back which adjusts some grippers on the underside of the seat to make it fit the adult toilet seat properly and stops it moving around. All my dcs have been fine using this.

Thanks, Bagpuss yours sounds good. I bought a padded one today from Mothercare bright blue with pics of fish and things on it but it moves about, so no good! Will get him the Baby Bjorn one and hope that works better.
