How much water does your baby drink?

I'm trying to increase DS's water intake as I don't think he's having enough. He currently has about 30ml (1 fluid ounce) per mealtime, so 90ml a day. Is that about right or should he be having more?

He's also having 600ml of formula every day so presumably that also counts towards his overall fluid intake? I also try to give him watery fruits and veg like pear puree and watermelon.

Does anyone know what the recommended amount is for a 9 month old baby?

Sounds fine especially if they're still taking that amount of milk

That sounds fine to me. Yes the formula counts towards his fluid intake.

Oh thank you @dementedpixie - I thought it seemed like very little!

My 9 month old has about the same amount of water three times a day, and three breastfeeds. I plan to drop one of these feeds over the next couple of weeks.

Thanks everyone. I’ve just read that babies aged 6-12 months should ideally be drinking 2-8 fluid ounces of water per day, so it sounds like DS is in the right ballpark after all.

Whete does it say that? Is it on an nhs guide? I didn't think there was a guide tbh

I got it from this site: riseandshine.childrensnational.org/keeping-your-baby-hydrated-during-summer/

But just noticed that this site suggests 4-6 fluid ounces per day: www.whattoexpect.com/first-year/feeding-your-baby/giving-water-to-baby.aspx

On the other hand they’re both US sites, so maybe ignore my previous comment. I can’t find any specific guidance from the NHS!
