Hi , I am trying out ready made bottles From aptamil my baby is 2weeks so only takes 3oz so there's still some left back how can I store these?

Can I pour them into a sterilised feeding bottle in the fridge ? How long can they last for ?

It should have instructions on it? I’ve used pre made cow and gate and they clearly explain.

Changethetoner · 18/01/2021 02:47

Yes, transferring milk to a sterilised bottle sounds okay. Use within 24hours. Are you serving it at room temperature? Because it isn't safe to keep any that has been heated.

If it’s the little bottles of ready made formula unfortunately as soon as it’s opened it has to be used within the hour. I had the same problem with my LO. We had to use the ready made bottles whilst in the hospital for a week & the waste was ridiculous but it says to dispose after 1 hour of opening.

The small bottles can have their lids screwed back on and be kept in the fridge for up to 24hrs. The big 1l bottles can be stored in the fridge for up to 48hrs.

When mine were that small we didn't get through a litre in time so it was cheaper to get the small more expensive bottles than to pour loads away.

If it’s still in the original Aptamil bottle, pop it in the fridge and use within 24hours. Any that’s been heated or put into a baby bottle should be used within an hour I think, so only heat up what you need then put the rest in the fridge.

I checked the bottle it says any left over milk that hasn't been used can be stored in the fridge it says if you replace the cap of the bottle which I didn't understand so I just put it in a sterilised feeding bottle in the fridge

I think you should throw it away to be on the safe side

200ml or the big bottles - lid back on and in the fridge. Sterilised bottle would be ok too. Use within 24 hours.
90ml starter ones need to be discarded as baby drinks from the bottle

Newmama29 · 18/01/2021 08:48

@FoxtrotSkarloey these were the ones I thought the OP was talking about so my advice was based off them Blush

The small 200ml ones def say 24hrs in fridge is fine. I open and use half each morning on babies breakfast, then next half the next morning

It’s if you take out with you, open and use half and can’t put straight back in fridge that it needs throwing after an hour.

ThornAmongstRoses · 18/01/2021 13:49

Pour how much milk you want into your baby’s bottle.

Put the cap back on the pre-made bottle and put it in the fridge and use within 24 hours.

You only have to throw it away after an hour if you put the teat on the pre-made bottle and your baby directly drank from it.
