Slices of apple?

Is it okay to give a 9 month old baby a slice of apple to try - and would you peel it first? Just wanted to check as I'm worried it could be too hard. He does have 4 teeth but that's all!

Thanks.

Yes, my dcs all ate slices of apple by then. With the peel on. Just stay with him while he eats it.

Thanks @SnugglySnerd. I just can't imagine how he'll be able to chew it with only 4 front teeth? Confused

I used to deskin the apple and cut into long, thin slices.

He uses his gums to chew. Let him bit your finger towards where his back teeth will emerge and you’ll see how hard he can bite!

When my DD was small, I used to put slices/chunks of apple in the oven, with a bit of cinnamon sprinkled on, to soften them up Smile

He might just enjoy sucking on it to begin with. Don’t underestimate how hard gums are though; babies don’t need any teeth to eat a wide range of solids.

They're great for teething too, just pop them in the fridge for a bit to get really cold and they soothe babies gums while they chomp.

My eldest didn't have any teeth until 17months... She could eat the majority of foods! (Steak was about the only thing she couldn't eat). Just make sure he's somewhere safe like his highchair and supervise.

I used to do this too - dcs still like this for breakfast with some Greek yoghurt!

My DS (9 months) insists I 'share' my apple when im eating one. Ill be sat down, eating an apple and we take it in turns. He has a 'bite' (suck/maul - he has no teeth yet), then i'll have a bite. Its quite cute really!
