Is it okay to feed to sleep or should I be breaking this habit?

I've got into a routine of giving my baby (almost 9 months old) his last bottle of milk just before bed. He'll drink the milk in his bedroom and then I'll pop him in the cot, turn out the lights and he goes to sleep.

Is this okay at this age or should I be trying to break the habit and give him his last bottle of milk a bit earlier?

There's just so much to fit in with the six feeds (3 bottles of milk, 3 meals) that I don't think there's enough hours in the day!! I'm also reluctant to change his routine in case he won't settle for bed without the milk.

Does anyone know?

How is his sleep? It is a problem when he wakes all night needing help to get back to sleep because he only knows how to feed to sleep.

It's also not great if he has teeth as his teeth should be brushed before sleep. We still did it till he was about 1 though.

Thanks both. His sleep is good - he has slept through the night pretty much consistently since 6 months.

The teeth thing I am worried about (just posted on another thread about this!)

It's absolutely fine. All of mine were fed to sleep until they didn't need to be anymore. Youngest was bf and I switched him to having a cup of milk before bed rather than a bf when I started to wean him (around 14 months). He would drink his cup of milk and then go to bed. A couple of months later, he lost interest in the milk and just put himself to sleep. Oldest one had a bottle, and then a cup of milk from around 15 months. She continued to have a cup of milk before bed until she was 4, and then she stopped. It's natural and works well and as long as they are happy I would carry on until you need to try something different.

Thanks @mindutopia! What did you do about the evening teeth brushing - did you just do it before the last feed?
