Hi ladies my premmie feeds on demand or every 4 hours and max 5 hours without a feed. But Is getting hungrier by the day likes to feed every 2 hours at night ! Was your premmie like this ? He’s not as his due date yet.

Are you breastfeeding? Even if you're not, if your baby is hungry, feed him.

Terracottasaur · 16/01/2021 06:59

That’s totally normal. Most babies feed more often than every 4/5 hours - nothing to worry about. Just feed him when he’s hungry.

Every three hours, I was told.

It’s easy to say feed on demand, less easy when this causes gas, reflux and a baby in pain. I never know what to do either.

I didn't have a preemie but my newborn fed every 2 hours I think it's totally normal

What did your midwife or HV advise? No experience of preemies but both my babies have fed every 2-3 hours, usually every 1.5-2hours of an evening. Personally I wouldn't let them go as long as 5 hours without a feed during the day.

You need to make sure you're getting proper medical advice, from a HV or GP or pharmacist, not randoms off the internet.

And 5 hours is a long time for a small baby. My full term DD never went more than 2 (night or day) she was on solids.
