Hi I'm single mum
My eldest has been shaving for about a year using travel electric shaver no problem but now has found he can't shave the hair just above his lips - any tips for best product or ways to deal please?

Get him a decent wet razor and shaving gel. Same rules as shaving your legs really - wash in warm water before shaving and rinse well afterwards.

What's he finding difficult about shaving it? Maybe he can try a disposable razor if his electric one isn't working. If he isn't using shaving foam, it really helps - any cheap version will do. I (m) found at that age it was much more effective to use foam and a plastic razor, not all upper lips are suited to electric razor heads.

He was getting on fine with the electric shaver until now so I think we will give the disposable razor a go. Thanks for your advice. I opted for the electric razor because I was worried about him cutting himself but I think if I get a good quality disposable razor he should be fine now. Thanks

Harry's razor and foam are apparently really good - on line or boots

Is he making the usual funny faces that I've seen men do to flatten the top lip? It's certainly difficult to shave wet or dry if the skin isn't flat

Hey op man who learnt to have without having a dad here. I had to guess and I did cut myself quite a bit and my mum wasn't helpful (understandably) here is a good link for some advice -

Tell him it's normal to cut your self and you get better in time - I'm 32 and I still cut myself.

Or better yet tell him to look into growing a beard you'd be surprised how supportive men are of each other on this blog - www.tapatalk.com/groups/jefffsbeardboard/men-in-their-teens-age-19-and-under-f66/

That's specifically for younger men and boys under 19
