Extra sensitive nipples vs feeding

I have really sensitive nipples, to the point that even I can’t really touch them (not even mention my partner). I am 20 weeks pregnant and I’m worried about breastfeeding, I would love to breastfeed my baby but I’m anxious I will just physically not be able to. Did any of you have similar experience? I guess I’m just hoping that they will “toughen up” after baby’s born 😬

Yes they do toughen up but not at first.

Lanisol is really good for this. Good luck!

I had similar concerns, but actually found breastfeeding okay. The feeling of baby suckling was quite different from touching my nipples myself (or a partner touching them) and didn't bother me in the same way. (Hormones may well have helped me here!) I did find it quite an intense feeling at first, but not a painful one, if that makes sense.

And yes, I used lansinoh after every feed at first to keep things comfortable.

If you’re really struggling you can try nipple shields

Oh I was exactly the same and thought I wouldn’t be able to breastfeed! Once DD was born it went away and was totally fine. Don’t worry!
