Night Time ECing Advice Needed

My EC'd 14 month old DD is pretty reliable dry and clean during the day?
LOL, of course now I said that I know I will get zillions of misses
tomorrow ;)
I was thinking of trying something new at night and would like some
advice.
We co-slept for the first 6 months and now DD sleeps in her own room
in a cot wearing a cloth nappy. I nurse her to sleep and if she
wakes I potty her and nurse her back to sleep.
If I wake up alert enough in the morning and/or before my DD, I know
her nappy will be dry and she'll do a big morning wee. However I
often am tardy at getting to her in the morning, especially if I am
sleeping on my good hearing ear.

cont...

The plan is to take the side of the cot off maybe add a bed guard at
the top end but leave the gap at the bottom so she can get out on
her own. Waterproof sheets just in case...naked butt baby (which DD
will love she hates her night nappies) and to leave a big stable
potty which she can use on her own on the bedroom floor. Make sure
all drawers have locks on them etc for safety reasons. So if she
wants to she can get up in the morning and do a wee in the potty if
I am slow at getting to her/don't hear her straight away.
But as she is my precious firstborn, I am worried that one or many
of the following might happen :-
: She could fall out of the cot (not that high though)
: She could play with contents of the potty (not done it before but
it is possible)
: She could climb and hurt herself (again she hasn't done it before
but it is possible)
: She could get up out of bed and play instead of sleeping (most
likely thing to happen but she will start doing this at some point
anyway and ATM she sleeps though the night and is not likely to
leave her cot before morning)

Would this be a good or terrible idea?Any advice is welcome

hello,

I've not done ecing with ds (17mo) so not sure how misguided this will be but you could try a matress on the floor to eliminate the falling out of bed/climb and hurt herself, this follows the montessori idea that everything should be accessable to the child from an early age... the getting out and playing thing you may just have to try and see

not sure what to suggest about playing with potty - maybe a pad or something absorbant to soak up wee straigth away and place potty on a splash sheet in case she does tip it accidently (had this with ds when he reached for a book and poo on carpet!)

good luck

Good idea about putting the matress on the floor. I could put a nappy inner in the potty just in case...and the floor is laminate which helps

Might have a go next weekend
