How much to pay childcare?

Normally our boys, age 2 and 4 go to nursery (private nursery, scotland). They have closed now for lockdown, and we are both frontline healthcare so needing childcare. One of the lovely nursery teachers has offered to help. She is on furlough from nursery. No idea what to pay her. 9-430ish. Any experience with same/ball park figures? Thanks

Maybe childminder rates?

Check your local nanny rates and pay her the nanny rate. Google says roughly £10-£12 net per hour for Scotland

At the very least, living wage.

(Bear in mind it will be much more expensive than nursery. I was getting £10 an hour for nannying in 2005)

If she is on furlough then she can't accept a wage from elsewhere though surely?

Noooop not true.

Did you ask her? What do you normally pay the nursery? This is one of those situations I would be looking for a mutually beneficial scenario.

Thanks all. We are so thankful for her help and more than happy to pay good rates, just looking for practical advice re what others are doing/paying. Aware of base rates. Thanks
