At the end of my tether

I’m at the end of my tether and need to know I’m not alone/ others have got through this, my DS is 6 weeks and he just hasn’t adjusted to the world at all he constantly cries ( ALL the time
) unless he is either feeding or sleeping and it’s really affecting me being able to bond with him as I’m just dreading every day like this and it’s having Knock on affect with my relationship with my OH:

Since birth we have had issues and hospital stays because of his feeding and tongue tie, the tongue tie is now sorted but feeding is an issue he always looks / sounds in so much pain with his tummy he screams, goes red in the face, pulls his legs to bum constantly and I can hear the noises in his tummy - he screams when he’s picked up , screams when he’s put down it really is impossible and we get very little sleep! I really do feel for him, I’ve tried infancol and changing his milk to comfort formula but that didn’t help so GP suggested coleaf and that made things 100 times worse so she has now prescribed gaviscone but I’m unsure that’s going to help as he has trapped wind/ tummy issues and I thought gaviscone was for reflux!?

I’m just feeling so drained we have no support bubble and OH is working - I just can’t see the light this will ever get better and all my maternity leave will be like this

Hi op firstly this didn't happen to me but a very close friend, so I have some experience of how your feeling right now.
Have the doctors diagnosed anything? Her little boy had silent refulx, which kept being missed. Have they checked for this?
Her saving grace was a stretchy sling, her lowest point was him strapped to her so she could go to the toilet.
It did pass and he is an absolute delight, you too will get through this. Keep on at the doctor's if you feel your not getting anyway, is your hv any good?
Sending a hug!

you're not alone. My wee one is 5 weeks and seems to be permanently attached. If you're on Facebook (or consider joining) I highly recommend joining the November 2020 Due Date Bump Club group. We met through this site and it's a friendly supportive group with children of the same age. If you are at your wits end at 2am, there's normally someone else out there. This week we had our first zoom get together.

I'm sorry you're going through this. I have a 9mo and I could have written your post then. Actually, I think I did.

It can be so so hard at first but I promise things do improve but in the moment I truly felt like it never would. DS had silent reflux/colic and would spend all day long crying and the worst was he was clearly in pain but I just couldn't find the solution to help! They suspected mine had CMPA so we changed milk a few times however my instinct was correct and it wasn't actually an allergy, just something he needed to grow out of as he developed. It's worth investigating CMPA though.

Mine had the most awful wind so I suspect that was a huge contributing factor. I literally had to spend an hour at a time winding him etc I found infacol helped bringing it out too.

It will improve, hang in there. In a few months time you'll look back and realise you made it through! We saw a big improvement after he turned 4 months. I hope you have people to lean on. If DP can take baby for a few hours in the evening/weekends so you can catch a break? Thanks
