Car seats

Hi,

Not sure where to out this my daughter is almost too big for her stage car seat and I've been looking but all car seats I've found for 15kg+ appear to use car seat belts.

Anyone any recommendations for car seats that still use a harness? She just seems too small for a car seat belt

@cheesebubble thanks for the response. I've seen that one its so hard reading from the description knowing how long you can use the harness. The pictures also show it being used without the harness.

Being unable to go into a shop and look is so difficult.

@IndigoJam I agree, this should be deemed essential given that you should wheel a pram about before buying and get expert advice on a car seat. Is there any way you could wait another month / 6 weeks to be able to go to the shops?

We have the Nuna Rebl plus which goes up to 18kg

How old and how big is she?
You can get seats which harness to 25kg. Halfords is an essential retailer but doesn't have a big selection. Biggest selection of seats will be online.

It might be worth calling/emailing if you have a local specialist shop. A friend of mine did this and they opened specifically just for her by appointment to give her advice on a car seat, in the first lockdown.

How old is she? If she is under 4 she is safest rearfacing so an ERF seat is best. Axkid minikid is fantastic.

Email the In Car Safety Centre. They're fantastic. Give completely unbiased advice. A friend went there to buy a new car seat and they checked her existing one and advised her to not buy one yet and I bought my current seat via email with them

Thanks for all the advice. She'll be 4 in May. She doesn't grow very fast so I've got at least another 6/8 months but was hoping to take advantage of the sales and buy something but haven't seen anything that has grabbed my attention

Forward facing harnesses actually put more pressure on the body so once she is old enough (minimum 4) a high back booster using the belt is best.
If she is small look for a seat with a crotch pad to prevent submarining.

Rearfacing is safest though so consider ERF until 25kgs.

Fiddlersgreen · 09/01/2021 16:57

Joie Bold uses the harness up to 25kg but is forward facing only

We love our axkid minikids

Another vote for axkid minikid or axkid move (same but missing a couple of features). We have both. My 4.5 year old is still happy and hasn't asked for forward face yet.
