Toy smartphone for baby??

Has anyone got one for their baby or toddler?

My 9 month old baby keeps grabbing my phone and trying to eat it, so I thought maybe a toy smartphone that just lights up a bit would distract her enough without risking my iPhone getting clogged with spit, but at the same time I don’t want to get her addicted to technology before she can even talk... any thoughts?

We had 3 different variants and none of them worked! As a pp said babies aren't fooled! This was the reason we bought an Amazon fire tablet alot earlier than planned

The peppa pig phone is absolutely fantastic. My 3 year olds still love it.

We were given 2 they are chucked in a box I think, never used (not in a London are you?)

DD is 2 and had just started role playing and will play phones with wooden blocks or remote controls. The huge fake phones have no appeal because they aren't phones and Im not using it

Btw they will not be fooled with an old phone or fake remote control either. They want the real deal!

They want it because it has your attention. When I stopped using my phone in front of him or just put it in front of him for him to play with, DS wasn’t interested and instead started to go for something else I had. He is now fascinated by my coffee mug and I have to drink all my tea and coffee tepid as he keeps asking for sips

I should have known! The same thing happens with the TV remote control... she tries grabbing it when we’re watching telly and we try to palm her off with an old remote so she doesn’t keep changing the channels but she only wants the one we’re currently using! Of course it makes total sense... OK thanks for your input everyone, you’ve just saved me £15!

We have 2, mainly used to distract at nappy changing time. Usually works so long as they are not used too much, just when needed! Had them from about 12 months, which was over a year ago.

We found this too - DD wanted the phone cos its what we were "playing" with. New rule, no phone round the baby!

I also try to limit the use of my actual phone when around DD as she will just want that... as others have said, it won't help in that situation! Best bet is to put the phone away until nap time.

I'm afraid to tell you aswell that it doesn't get any easier. When they're toddlers they still take your phone but also ring people on it! The tv thing is worse too as they know how to turn peppa pig etc on!

DC2 (2.5year old) has a V-Tech Scout phone & both he & DC1 (almost 5) fight over it as they both love playing with it. It's reasonably interactive & teaches numbers.

We have two toy remotes and a toy phone... all bought as gifts (will never knowingly purchase a noisy toy for my own child ) one of the remotes is popular, the other two do not hold much interest. Like others have said, I now just hide the tv remote (usually have radio or news channels on for part of the day) and keep my phone out of sight unless taking photos. It’s a good habit to get into really.

We gave our dd the old TV remote with no batteries in. She is far more interested in that than the jazzy pretend one!

Mine do play with toy phones, Weridly they know how to hold them to their ears even though I always talk on speakerphone

You can buy yphone toy on amazon for her. My son used to love playing on my phone and I bought him this toy phone. After a while, he got bored and no longer wanted to play on the phone.
