Hi all!
Our DS has very dry skin on his face. I think it's because the heating is on a lot and we take him with us when we walk the dog.
I also cough a lot because the air in our house is so dry. Especially when the heating is on (I don't have COVID btw 😝)
I've heard that having a humidifier may help with his dry skin and also my coughing.
Just wanted to ask if anyone uses one for their baby and if so, which one you would recommend.
Many thanks

Hi OP,

I literally bought a humidifier today. Since our son has been born, the heating has needed to be on a lot more.

As a result, my husband and I wake up to being incredibly dry and coughing a lot. My skin is really dry as well (which I think is also hormones), my husband's asthma has been a lot worse, and my son has been very snuffly, so we needed to do something, really.

Fingers crossed it helps.

Can I please ask which one you purchased @Bluejayway91 and what made you get the one you did?
We've been looking but it's a mine field! 🤣

My DD also has/had very dry skin. Sometimes she just looked so awful her skin would be cracking and peeling, bright red. It was absolutely horrible. I use a humidifier in her room when she sleeps. When her skin was very bad it definitely did make a difference - if I forgot to put it on when she was sleeping her skin would be noticeably drier when she woke up. I just bought one for £20 or so off Amazon, nothing fancy. If nothing else it’s great with olbas oil in when baby has a cold.

She has seen a dermatologist and has steroid cream which I have to use on small patches of eczema, but the emollients i have tried (either on prescription or just buying them) have all been useless. If you’ve got creams that work that’s great but just in case you haven’t found something yet, the thing that has helped the most has been using cerave moisturising lotion. The first time I used it I could tell the difference within a couple of hours. I’ve been using it every day for a few months now and she does still get small patches of eczema in her creases sometimes but you’d really never know her skin was dry. I use it all over her skin twice a day now first thing in the morning and after her bath, but initially sometimes I was doing 4/5 applications per day as it would just drink the stuff!

Honestly it’s made such a difference- I realise you haven’t come on asking for cream recommendations but I mention it to anyone whose child has dry skin as it was such a transformation for my DD, and it’s made a huge difference to others when I’ve recommended it.
