Nightweaning

Hi everyone,

I'm new here and hoping to get some advice on nightweaning.
My daughter is 21 months and I've been slowly night weaning for about 2 months. She now generally tends to sleep from 8.30pm until 3am and then wakes again at 5am. With her help of my husband we have been able to get her to accept either of us and not ask for milk until this 5am wake up. However we either get a) her screaming hysterically and thrashing around inconsolably without letting up or b) falling asleep the second she is put down. As a result DH ends up falling in the chair asleep with her.
Any ideas on how to make this last wake up easier?
I have no idea how to get her to go back to sleep unless she is cuddled to sleep.
Any advice?

Edit: waking up the second she is put down. What a silly error.

Morning
From what I can remember from my youngest, now 9, we gradually watered his formula down until he stopped waking for it. His older brother was a terrible sleeper until he was about 2 or 3 so have no idea what happened with him.
Hope you get some useful suggestions. All the best for the new year x

Can you bring her in your bed when she wakes at 5 to get her back to sleep? To be honest with mine I just kept giving it until she grew out of it age 3 Blush

I should have mentioned she is breastfed. Occasionally she will except a cup of water (she has refused a bottle from 5 months) but mainly comically hits it away in a sleepy fury.

I used to bring her in from 5 but she won't settle unless I feed her. It's why husband started doing that wake up, because she will just go beserk if she sees me. She is very stubborn haha.
Don't be embarrassed @KylieKangaroo. Your child. Your choice. I also think this may be where we go, as maybe she just isn't ready.
She only only 2 feeds over 24 hours just one of them happens to be at stupid o clock Grin
