What to do with my baby ?!?

My baby is 7 months old and has just started crawling. He hates to be put in his highchair, hates being in the pram most of the time, likes being held and walked around but this kills my back after around five minutes.

He spends time on the floor playing and crawling but loves pulling himself up onto our glass door and onto walls and often falls so I naturally try not to let him do that too much.

Can anyone give me an example of what they do with their baby during the day? Do you have a set routine?
Also any tips for getting him to eat in his highchair? First few weeks of weaning he enjoyed but now he just grumbles in the highchair so isn't really having much

Thank you !! X

children often climb and tumble its all part of the learning process .Just make sure room is child proof no things within grabbing reach, locked cabinets, tucked away cables, its all going to be pulled and chew and climbed on.

At that age i got a large playpen with a foam mat so mine could explore fall over without me running to her aid every 5 mins

Sit on the floor start playing with a toy see if they come over and pretend be silly to distract them

also singing nursery rhymes together is a good way to pass the time

Do you have an activity table or high chair toy?

Hi OP, we got our crawling/cruising baby one of these:
www.argos.co.uk/product/9087550
It's a good height as they can pull up to standing but not really climb, and it's pretty sturdy so lasted well, never rocked or toppled.

Ours also would happily spend hours in the jumperoo if allowed - I tried to minimise since I think not the best for them developmentally but I know DH stuck him in for hours when I was at work :)

He also had a playpen as PPs have mentioned, but he objected to that much more and I often ended up in there with him which basically defeated the point...

Does carrying him in a sling hurt your back? Is he old enough for the back carry? Ours was always happy in a sling and made it easy to get stuff done hands-free and nice to get out for some fresh air in any windows of decent weather.

The only thought I had on highchair is that a footrest might help, if you don't have one with a footrest you can buy them separately for lots of makes on Etsy etc - could be worth a try?

Good luck

Mine is nearly 11 months. Mostly she roams around and I follow her, or I shut her in a safe space with me while I do chores. (Eg laundry gets folded in her bedroom).

He will need to learn to pull up safely so he can roam around. You could try one of those old fashioned play pens with wooden bars? It won't be useful for long and he will probably not like it much but it would be a safe spot for him to practice pulling up in.

Or just try to let him practice lots while you are with him to keep him safe.

My son is exactly the same. I put some cardboard boxes on the playmat today and he loved climbing on and over those. I don't think you can really stop them pulling up etc. but just have to keep an eye. I am thinking of getting a foam mat to try and help for when he tumbles.
