Moving from sleeping back to duvet aged 24 months... any advice

My little one has almost outgrown his sleeping bag (he is big for his age) and also is waking up in tbe night with really cold arms (he has two layers on). So we have bought a duvet for him but I am so nervous to transition him. He's not a good sleeper despite our best efforts so I am worried he will hate the duvet and just keep kicking it off and getting cold, meaning more wake ups!

What was your experience and how did you transition your toddlers to a duvet?

I used a full size single duvet the other way and tucked it in well on each side of the bed to keep it in place so it never fell off. Alternatively check out slumbersac they do sleeping bags with arms up to about age 6/7 !!!

My little girl loved her sleeping bag but was getting too big for them. She could kick and eoll about as much as she wanted and still be covered with the bag. We turned the duvet cover side on so it would tuck under each side fo the mattress. It stopped her kicking it off too easily. Switched around to the normal way for a duvet a few weeks after.

Yes to those saying turn it sideways. Then you can tuck one side in when making the bed. And if you eant to, tuck the second side in at bedtime.
Then turn it the right way round when the weather is good, and kicking it off isnt as much of an issue.

What if your little one flops around like a dying fish all night? Any tips ?

I read about a thing that keeps the duvet on - company called fidgetbum sleep on Instagram. DC is 18mo though so one I was keeping tabs of until he's older so no idea if they're any good or not!

We used these

And you can also buy bigger bags for older children on their sister site

My little boy slept in duvet from 2.5 years. Initially he would lie outside it with his nappy on. Now he’s nearly 3 we’ve ditched the nappy and he just has his pyjamas on. Funnily enough now he has his pyjamas he seems to keep his duvet on all night 🤷🏽‍♀️

He didn’t get cold and wake. Get some nice next cotton rich pyjamas. They’re cosy and you’ll probably need a lower tog than you think. We have a 7 and a 3 or something like that. He’s in his 7 presently
