unisarah - I was round family's today and ds didn't finish his bottle. I left it on the side. Then 20 mins later he was signing milk at me! I felt so bad I forgot about it, and he had to remind me!!
can't wait til I get other signs now!!

My DD's were shoes and sweets at about 11 months. She was obsessed with every bodies shoes !

My DS's about the same age was hot, i used to forget to cool his dinner down!

I don't know if you call this a proper word but my dd is 10 months and has been saying 'yum yum' for the last month at least when eating and on sight of food (going to the supermarket is amusing!) That is all she has ever said so far!

My DS could say quite a few words before he was a yr old, but it wasn't until he was around 20 months that he had a 'language explosion' and started talking in proper sentences. He is now 2 yrs 10 mths and I can't shut him up :-)

p.s. his first wors were 'no!' (said while pointing his finger and shaking his head sternly...that taught me my first lesson about children being little mirrors that reflect your own behaviours right back at ya!), 'ladybird' and 'milk'!

I think mine were about a year. A friend of mine's 22-month-old isn't talking yet - but he understands everything and is great at pointing and making his meaning clear.

DD has really come on leaps and bounds just in a few days. She now says grandma (weird as she has a nana and a nanny), Daisy (guinea pig), Stacey (nursery minder), cot (Apricot) and sessue (her version of Nelson for our cockatoo). It is amazing how quickly they get it.
