What age did your baby start using sentences?

And I mean sentences such as:

There it is
There she is
See you soon
Moma spoon
Hiya car
Blue ball

Also what age did your baby start to recognise colours and count to 10?

Dd is 31 months and has used sentences for a long time. Colour recognition in the last couple of months. She counts but not correctly Grin

Findahouse21 · 15/12/2020 19:43

Sentences and colours both about 18 months. Count to 10 was nearer to 2 I think

mooncakes · 15/12/2020 19:43

2-2.5 probably.

about 18 months

nextdoorshush · 15/12/2020 19:44

ten was maybe 2

Onedropbeat · 15/12/2020 19:44

Mine didn’t talk at all until he turned 3 so it was after that

He’s 3.5 now and stringing sentences together with lots of thought but he struggles with sounding a lot of letters still

QuantumJump · 15/12/2020 19:45

One was between 18 months and 2 years, another not until 2.5 years. Both doing really well at school now.

Crumpetycrump · 15/12/2020 19:46

DD could say 4 word sentences at 18 months - I can remember her saying “ look daddy book” when she wanted to look at the guide book whilst on holiday in Malta. I can’t remember the other things I’m afraid.

MaizeBlouse · 15/12/2020 19:47

DS1 could do this at around 18 months.

Junobug · 15/12/2020 19:49

I could have a full conversation with my dd at 18 months, however my ds is 2 1/2 and only just stringing 4 words together, misses a lot of numbers counting and can do 3 colours so it varies massively.

SendHelp30 · 15/12/2020 19:50

DD around 18-19 months. Have a video of her singing twinkle twinkle little star at 20 months so definitely before then. Colours, letters & counting around the same age.

DS1- still hasn’t, he’s 3 and non-verbal.

DS2- is 16 months and can say bye bye, night night, do no (don’t know) oh no. He can say on, dooo for 1, 2.

RaraRachael · 15/12/2020 19:51

My son didn't really speak much at all until he was 3 as he was obviously waiting until he could speak in whole sentences rather than baby talk Grin

It had no bearing on his future life at all

Mummydaydreams · 15/12/2020 19:52

My 22 month old said "no bath, ice cream, come, look" while pointing at the freezer today (after dinner). This is by far the longest sentence she has ever said Grin

BringMeThatHorizon · 15/12/2020 19:53

DS is 2.2 and can talk in full sentences (e.g. 'where my dinosaur coat', 'show pic of nana', 'no red spoon, green spoon mama!')

He can say and tell apart most colours but sometimes gets a bit mixed up.

He's getting there with counting - he'll say one teddy bear or two spoons and get it right, but will look at group of trees and say 'one three two four six trees'.

patchworkpals20 · 15/12/2020 19:54

One at 10-12 months and one at over 2 years old. Both are doing well at school.

FourForYouGlenCoco · 15/12/2020 19:55

Two of mine you could have proper conversations with by about 16 months. My middle one said about 3 words (and I was the only one who could understand them!) til long gone 2, think he was about 2.5 for basic 3/4word sentences. Now getting on brilliantly at school and looking to be much more academic than (super advanced as a toddler) eldest was at this stage 🤷‍♀️

BertieBotts · 15/12/2020 19:56

About 2 for all of them.

Mrsdoubtfireswig · 15/12/2020 20:00

Had odd word before 2 - mummy, bye bye etc but now speaks sentences of a few words or more. Counting he got pretty quickly and can do past 10 but sometimes jumps numbers. Colours not really getting - everything was green, then pink, then blue but got a few right this week. We found the word books / flash cards and colour books helped - going through and pointing at different objects, used to dry and do one before story every night

bellagogosdead · 15/12/2020 20:00

Ds was about 2 and a half and had speech therapy for a bit before he started school. No discernable long term problems.
Dd was singing songs at 18 months Grin she is also fine.

EcoCustard · 15/12/2020 20:01

Dc1 was about 3-3.5 with colours and sentences, counting to 10 was about about 4.5.
Dc2 was about 18 months with colours and sentences, counting to 10 at about 2.
Dc3 was about 2.5 with sentences. Colours and counting about 18 months-2 years.
Dc4 is 20 months and non of the above, only word is no, Grin track ( tractor) or one of our dogs names.

They are all different.

Lazypuppy · 15/12/2020 20:03

Between 18-24 months, dd qas early to talk and sentences came quite quickly

Hoowhoowho · 15/12/2020 20:03

DS- joined two words at 2. Proper sentences and conversation closer to 3 but knew colours, letters and numbers when he was just two. He has a number of ASD traits

DD- joined two words at 13 or 14 months, long multi word sentences, colours, reciting numbers , reciting alphabet etc by 18 months.

MyNameForToday1980 · 15/12/2020 20:07

Sentences at 15 months (months before she could walk).

Colours about the same time as sentences.

Counting, much later. 2.5ish...

She didn't walk until just over 18mo so I suspect she channelled all her energy into verbal development and far less into physical.

Franke · 15/12/2020 20:11

DS was over 2.5. I remember his first multi word utterance very well - "Yucky dinner, mummy" Grin

maureenfrombarnsley · 15/12/2020 20:11

DD was about 1.5

DS more like 2.5
