I just wanted to check if this sounds like too much food in one day for a 17m old. I appreciate that all chn are different but thought I woukd just check.

Breakfast:
Bowl of Shreddies or porridge
Whole banana

Snack:
Pear or berries (sometimes with natural yoghurt)

Lunch:
Two slices of bread with houmous or peanut butter
Triangle cheese
5 x baby vegetable crisps

Dinner:
50g of pasta with tuna & Mayo
3 x Brocolli
2 x carrots
1 x yoghurt

Before bed:
300ml of whole milk in a beaker

She would eat more too.

Can I just add that she doesn't stop asking for food!

Why are you concerned? If she eats well and is a health weight why does it matter? Your list sounds great to me.

Zoink · 12/12/2020 09:47

Not overly concerned but just wanted to check. She's on the 98th centile which, again, is fine. She's chubby which is cute. I just wanted to double check it's not too much food for her age Smile

Sounds fine to me. As long as an adult is providing a majority of healthy food, I don't think they do really overeat at this age. It's only if you give them loads of crap food then it's obviously the same quantity but too much fat etc so that's when problems arise.

Zoink · 12/12/2020 09:53

Perfect. Thanks guys! She always has fruit and veg. Sometimes we will eat out and she will have some chips etc but not daily!

In your example she is only having 4 portions of fruit and veg. I would try and increase this.

Unless you're saying she never stops eating....

She's fine. They need a fair amount 1000-1400 cals a day

My 15m would sometimes have 2 weetabixs plus a big banana and some berries for breakfast. Nothing would stop him!!!
Unfortunately he's teething now, so he's surviving off his belly fat it appears!! Refuses virtually all food, even his breakfast after sleeping for a good 12hrs.

Zoink · 14/12/2020 10:31

@Thatwentbadly okay - will do

@BananasBananas as bless him! Yes mine would eat that but I kind of lessened it to one weetabix and a banana. Maybe I shouldn't. I don't know Confused This morning she had 30g of porridge with whole milk & then a banana. She then asked for a pear and I said wait until later.

@Zoink I had to reduce it in the end. He was like an insinkerator and ended up puking after I put him down on the floor because he'd eaten too much. He was the same with breastfeeding - never stopped sucking till I broke his latch. He could feed for hours on end. Just a very greedy, podgy, squodgy little boy 😍

I'm BananasBananas btw! NC for the xmas competition

Is she on the 98th centile for height and weight OP and has she always been there?

My DN was born on the 98th for both and reach 6ft at 13 Smile

Zoink · 14/12/2020 18:40

@JingleJohnsJulie 98th for weight but 50th for height!

98th for weight but 50th for height!

If she was born in these centiles she should be fine but if her weight has gone up the centiles and not her height, that may be of concern.

Have a look at this guide from the Caroline Walker Trust as it gives some good information on portion sizes Smile

Zoink · 14/12/2020 19:32

@JingleJohnsJulie thanks I will look now! Weight has always been between 98th and 99.6th but height has gone from 85th to 50th
