My LO is 5 months old and still has bad reflux, she spits up so much and I have to change her a couple of times a day. Just wondering when it will stop?

Any allergies suspected? E.g cows milk/soya? It can last until they are indepedantly sitting up and slightly beyond (around a year at a push). As long as she's not distressed with it and is gaining weight etc then do t worry too much, your house will smell normal someday soon Wink

I’m still waiting for it to stop, DS is 3

Do you really want the answer to this? Sad With Ds1 when he was upright more so cruising furniture and then completely gone by the time he was 1.

Ds2 was a severe case and under a paediatrician. He was about 3 when he stopped sicking up into his mouth during the day. The paediatrician recommended a dummy from 4 months old which he had until he started nursery at 3 1/2. This helped. It reduced down in volume as he got older. So from sicking up quite a lot of liquid to just into his mouth.

He still refluxed at night and woke himself up with it until he was 8. Yep, 8 years old. He would come downstairs all sleepy and we would give him some milk to soothe the burn.

Even today he will not eat large portions of food. He is 14. I also reflux so he blames me Grin

For us it improved when she weaned onto solids and sat up unaided - so 6 months onwards. She was off all reflux meds by 7 months.

I don't think it's an allergy. It doesn't seem to bother her at all except for the occasional face pulling when it obviously doesn't taste nice! I've tried Gaviscon but it makes her constipated. What other meds can the Dr give her?

My DS takes omeprazole (he was on ranitidine until it was recalled last year)

Doctors won’t medicate for reflux if it doesn’t bother her because reflux in babies is very normal. Medication shouldn’t be taken lightly.

My daughter was on Gaviscon from 3 weeks and Lansoparazole from 12 weeks because she screamed in pain constantly,, feeding was a nightmare and she was slow to return to birth weight even though she was bottle fed. She was a deeply unhappy and unsettled baby until she had medication.

Agree with @ihaveoflate if it's not bothering her then just wait for it to pass, it is very normal. My LO needed meds but as pp has said he cried alllll the time but especially after feeds or if refluxed, very unhappy baby, sleep was a nightmare etc.

She will outgrow it at some point and medication wont stop the actual reflux anyway (other than gaviscon which helps).

What's are your concerns with it?
