1 year old not sleeping and biting everyone

Hi everyone it's currently 6:36 am, I've been up since after 2am as usual my 1 year old (20 months) has been up non stop crying, she's just crying and screaming and also biting me really viciously (crying while biting me and acting very frustrated) , she started this biting thing about nearly 2 weeks ago, I've tried her with Calpol thinking it's teething but that doesn't help and neither does chewing on anything or chewing on anything cold, I'm beyond exhausted with her she's been doing them nearly every night for a week.
Does anyone have any idea of what can be wrong with her and how I could help her? I've tried everything for the past 3 hours and PST week and she can't speak yet so she can't tell me herself what's wrong and she can't show/tell me if she's hurting anywhere.

TIA x

Just wanted to add when she bites she locks on and shakes here head side to side like a dog would do, no idea where she got this from or why she's doing it but I can tell you firsthand it's extremely painful for me and really frustrating
For her, thanks again x

Both sound are side effects of teething. Try nurofen and anbesol liquid but it might be worth seeing a GP ago rule out an ear infection.

I would absolutely be taking her to the GP, she's obviously in a great deal of distress and pain. It could be teeth, but it could be something else.

This isn't her being "naughty" - she's not throwing a tantrum because you wouldnt let her lick her shoes - she's expressing something big and you're there for her, listening and giving her comfort and her mama. Youre doing an excellent job, because the biting absolutely sucks. Would she be distracted into biting something else? Could you go in to comfort her armed with something big and chunky that she can get her whole mouth around and get some of the relief she's trying to get from biting you?

This sounds super tough. Hang on in there.

Baby ibuprofen does more for teething pain than Calpol but as she’s been like this for 2 weeks you should really take her to the doctor.

Thankyou both for your replies I really appreciate it the advice!

I'm going to call up my GP tomorrow to discuss this with them to check for anything else that could be wrong like you both suggested- most of the time I always just get referred straight to HV so hoping that they will give me a GP appointment instead of seeing HV again, thanks again Smile

And she does bite everything in the same manner whether it's toys, blankets, clothes, tables and tv stands, so I could try wrapping something like a safeguard option on me when she's in biting mode, will give it a go, thanks!x

I will try that if she is still the same in a few hours, I usually don't give her ibuprofen as it's near impossible to get her to swallow even just a little she prefers the calpol, but I'll definitely try again with the ibuprofen Smile
