Reusable breast pads

Hi ladies, I'm due in May and had the most wonderful breastfeeding journey with my first BUT I do have sprinklers and I've always lad lots and lots of milk (sorry if TMI) and no, it didn't adjust after 2-3 months. This still happened at 7 months, I could never quite understand why.

I've gone through so many lansinoh breast pads, often two a day for each breast and I'm now thinking: I should really get reusable ones that I can pop in the washing machine, maybe get around 20 and then of needed have some lansinoh as a back up? I'm also starting the use reusable nappies.

Just trying to do my bit for the planet (even if the impact is probably minimal).

Any recommendations?

I used bamboo ones from Amazon, a couple of different brands and they were both good, very soft and comfortable. They were less drying when you get sore fingers from changing nappies all day as well. They come with a little bag you can put them in the washing machine with. Definitely felt a lot better environmentally than throwing plastic wrappers and used pads away every time and none of that rustling sound you can get with the disposable ones.

I just got these ones from Boots: www.boots.com/Boots-Maternity-Washable-Breast-Pads-1x6-Pads-10238847

I've found three packs is plenty, come with a net bag to wash them, super easy

I use the pop in ones. They're good but they do need to be changed frequently so I would recommend buying at least 3 packs.

I have these XL breast pads, I use 2-3 pairs in 24h and have 7 pairs. We are using cloth nappies so am washing every other day so 7 is enough for me.

I started optimistically with small cotton ones but soon ditched them. When i was looking for replacements I was looking for large, bamboo and a pul backing m

Bamboo ones from Amazon. So much more comfy than single use ones.

Thank you everyone, I'm having a look at the bamboo ones on Amazon

I didn't use reusable with DC1 as I didn't even realise they existed.

This time round I was gifted them and would never look back! Soo much comfier and more absorbent.

I also got some bamboo ones from Amazon and highly recommend.

Also if you're interested I got some great night bras for cheap from there too but very comfy and supportive

They are tiny though - I'm about a size 14 on top and I had to get 3XL but they fit perfectly

Lanisoh do reusable ones which are so much comfier than their disposable ones - I got them off Amazon. Two packs were enough for me but I discovered them several months in (unfortunately, they were so much better!)

Doyouwantanothercuppa · 08/12/2020 07:23

Asda do a pack of reusable pads, in a round plastic pot. They had a plastic-y backing and I found them more absorbent than the cheap bamboo ones I got from eBay (I would not recommend those).

frolicmum · 08/12/2020 07:37

@KatieKat88 the thread is about not wanting to use them to do my bit for the environment, same as reusable nappies lol 😂

@KatieKat88 so sorry, I just thought you meant the throw away ones, god I'm losing it! I'll have a look at those as well, I didn't know they do them, only the one time use ones.

I got mine from The Nappy Lady website when I bought cloth nappies from there. I found them so much more comfortable than disposable ones and they stayed in the right place better even with no sticky bit.

The little lamb ones are nice
