Regression in potty training ... argh

ds is 3.1 and we got him out of daytime nappies aged 2.5. Only took 2 weeks and most nights even his night nappy was dry. Recently he started going back to insiting on nappy to do a no. 2 (he actually gets it and puts it on himself) and then for the last few days he doesn't even try getting to the toilet in time for wees...

wondering if it could be 'retaliation' for us being a bit more strict with him when it comes to him not eating his breakfast/lunch/dinner in thathe's not getting his milk until he's at least eaten a few mouth's full or tired the food infront of him...

any thoughts?

Why not try being less strict with him and see if he is clean/dry again and then you will have your answer ?

Why not give him half the ammount of milk you would normally either by decreasing what's in the cup or getting a smaller cup?
This will give him the control over his food he seems to want (my son is going through control issues atm with us)
Say, when you've eaten your breakfast of course you can have some more milk... Then let him get on with it.

I AM HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM WITH MY 2.5 YEAR OLD. WE HAVE BEEN POTTY TRAINING FOR ABOUT 3 MONTHS NOW, AND AT FIRST THINGS WERE GREAT, BUT THE LAST WEEK SHE HAS REFUSED TO USE THE POTTY FOR WEES OR POOS. SHE KEEPS SAYING THAT SHE IS A BABY AND NEEDS TO BE WEARING NAPPIES AS HER YOUNGER BROTHER WHO IS 16MONTHS WEARS NAPPIES.
I THINK THAT IT MUST JUST BE A STAGE THAT THEY GO THROUGH TO SEE HOW FAR THEY CAN PUSH YOU.!! ARE YOU GETTING STRESSED WITH HIM, AS I KNOW I HAVE WITH MINE, AND I MUST ADMIT, THE MORE STRESSED I GET, THE WORSE SHE IS FOR NOT USING THE POTTY.

Have you tried bribery? Maybe try rewarding him every time he uses the toilet with a surprise, ie a sweet or a small toy or balloon or new crayons, something that would appeal to him. I´m going through similar problems with my 2.5 year old daughter who started nursery in Sept and the other children in her class are in nappies and she doesn´t like being different so won´t ask to go to the loo and has now started to wet herself 3 or 4 times a day which is driving me nuts. I can reward her at home with a sweet but its harder to sort out the time she´s in nursery when the teacher simply takes her every so often so she never uses her own initiative. Also we´re in Spain so language is difficult for her there...
