School dress down day 🙄

Good morning all, I couldn't sleep and I thought I post this for suggestions & wasn't sure where to post it.

It's dress down day at my kids (age 9 & 5) school today. I am wondering what to dress them in.

My 9-year-old hasn't got jeans as he does not like jeans. He's got loads of joggers and chinos trousers. I am not sure if to dress him in chinos & a shirt (I think will look a bit too formal) or just regular joggers and long sleeve t-shirt🤷🏽‍♀️

I’d go with joggers personally

Anything warm and comfortable...nothing in any way formal and that you'd be upset if it got dirty/glue etc on.

For your 9 year old you don’t dress him. Whatever he wants to wear that’s within the rules of dress down: our school says no football kits.

This. Why wouldn't he have an opinion about what he wants to wear?

Surely dress down day is just non uniform day, so just what they wear normally when their not in school uniform!

Have you never done a non uniform day before - with a 9 year old?!?!

And why not chinos and tee shirt and a hoodie or jumper, why does it need to be a shirt

But basically what your kids feel comfortable in and what is dressing down for them!

Just cos it’s called dress down day is just the terminology used by the school, some call it mufti day (yes I’ve seen state schools call it this although generally a private school term) some call it, relaxed day.

Then you get the days that there’s a reason for the non uniform Christmas jumper day, obvious. And jersey day which is wearing your teams colours.

It's just what they wear at the weekend if it's non uniform day surely?

Don't forget the "voluntary" contribution for the day. Is it still a pound? 🤔

Primary school children can just dress themselves surely? It's just weekend clothes, unless there are any rules.
