Sickness and nursery

I think I probably know the answer, but..

My 3 year old Daughter had her vaccinations on Tuesday. she then woke up Tues night with a temperature and she was sick twice.

I'm assuming this was all related to her jabs, as she woke up in the morning completely fine and bouncing around.

Nursery are aware that she was sick and that she had had her jabs on the Tuesday. Policy for being sick is to keep children off for 48 hours, but my partner is saying it's ridiculous as it's obviously related to the jabs. He is taking her in this morning because I won't. I will just die if they send him back with her or question him 🙈🙈(which I guess they are going to). Is it that bad to send her??

It may have been due to her vaccinations but could easily have not been. She shouldn't go to school imo.

Thatwentbadly · 03/12/2020 07:43

Even if she has just had her jabs she has had a temperature so she needs a Covid test and can’t return for 48 hours after her temp has gone and she has a negative test.

PatchworkElmer · 03/12/2020 07:45

Really bad! Keep her off.

I wouldn't send her.

OverTheRainbow88 · 03/12/2020 07:47

I’ve never heard of a child being sick with a vaccine. It’s selfish sending her in and potentially giving all the others a sickness bug at best and covid at worse.

PitNicking · 03/12/2020 07:48

That’s not true @Thatwentbadly - PHE has issued guidance saying post-vaccination fevers are not a reason to self isolate (or presumably test)

PitNicking · 03/12/2020 07:49

Sorry, that’s just for a temperature, not for being sick! I missed she was sick as well

Schummakker · 03/12/2020 07:50

Let us know what they say!

30not13 · 03/12/2020 07:53

I've never heard of vomiting being a common after effect of jabs tbh.
Temps yes for sure.

How embarrassing itll be to be turned away at the door.

Just dont ops dp.

Pumpertrumper · 03/12/2020 07:56

Honestly in the same situation I’d let him take her. Tell him clearly that they won’t accept her and he’s going to make a tit of himself.

Then ring ahead moment he leaves and give them a heads up. DP won’t listen and is insisting on bringing her. Have told him the policy...etc but he thinks he knows better.

Then I’d go to work/carry on with your day making sure I wasn’t easily available for him to rant to/palm DD off on when he gets home with her.

mindutopia · 03/12/2020 09:59

None of mine have ever been sick because of jabs. I don't think that's typical at all. Yes, if you've told them she's been sick, she has to be home for 48 hours after the last incident of sickness. And if she has a fever, she needs a COVID test.

It's inconvenient, but it's just how it is. Much better than spreading a sickness bug (which she could have picked up from the surgery having her jabs even) or COVID all around nursery, making other families ill, and meaning lots of people need to take time off work.

MummaBear4321 · 03/12/2020 10:19

Wow @Pumpertrumper you sound like a joy to have kids with 😕 bit vindictive and OTT.

I say keep her off. Temperature is normal for a vaccine, but vomiting isnt. She probably has a bug and if you send her in you are creating this problem for other parents in your nursery.

GalaxyCookieCrumble · 03/12/2020 10:34

Sounds like your partner can't be arsed to look after his own sick child!

Letsallscreamatthesistene · 03/12/2020 10:40

I’ve never heard of a child being sick with a vaccine

Really?! Its the reason they advise calpol post vaccinations

OverTheRainbow88 · 03/12/2020 10:41

@Letsallscreamatthesistene

Calpol doesn’t help Vomiting sick...!

Letsallscreamatthesistene · 03/12/2020 10:42

Oh, actual sickness. Sorry I missed that bit.

Yeah id keep her off.

And @pumpertrumper....wow.

1940s · 03/12/2020 13:49

Really really selfish. You can't guarantee it was because of the jabs

30not13 · 03/12/2020 20:01

So what happened @jabice
