3 month old growing out of carry cot

My DS is a big baby, 90th percentile in fact. So not the biggest but he has some length to him. This was a surprise as my husband and I are only 5ft 6 so we don’t have the largest of prams. DA has nearly grown out of his carry cot and no where near sitting up. Am I just going to have to use the sling until he can sit up and then it’s back in the pram?

What pram do you use? Can the seat lie flat?

Abcadab · 02/12/2020 10:01

I have a pram which has a seat attachment which can recline or sit up. We started using it as soon as our LO grew out of the carrycot. It has 3 different strap heights so it can grow with the baby. Slings and baby carriers are great but for days out I always prefer the pram to be honest.

Does it have a cat seat attachment?

If not them I'd put the pushchair facing you and lie it flat. You can buy supports to go in to keep him cosy and use a foot muff to keep him warm.

My little boy is on 99 percentile and grew out of his carrycot by 10 weeks Blush
We use the pushchair on the lowest recline.

We had a baby jogger city mini that lies flat from birth. Never used a carrycot and was great up until we didn't need a buggy any more. Our five year old can fit in (not that he uses it).

MindyStClaire · 02/12/2020 10:10

We use the seat at the lowest recline.

What pram do you have?

WannabeMathematician · 02/12/2020 12:09

No. It’s doesn’t lie flat. It’s a ups baby minu.

Thanks

Might be of use to you @WannabeMathematician.

UK website here suitable from 6 months.

US website here suitable from 3 months.

I've seen this on lots of buggies (including my Uppababy Vista), the guidelines must be different here. I'd say you're fine to switch to the seat, you can buy inserts to give them a bit more support if you want.

My baby is 98th centile for weight and height and grew out of his carry cot at around 3/4 months.

The next bit up went as flat as maybe 20° inclination IYSWIM. I put him in that and he was happy enough.

WannabeMathematician · 03/12/2020 17:31

Fair enough. I was worried as lying flat is advised for prams/strollers for the first 6 months but needs must I guess.

Thanks all
