Is it normal for 2YO to suddenly become scared of previously ok things?

My 2 YO DS has recently become scared of certain things that he has previously been fine with. Just wondered if this is normal?

Currently the 'scared of' list includes the vacuum cleaner, the electric hair clipper, my food mixer, and a new one for this morning is the lawn mower (and he's always been scared of soap and water - 'cleanliness! No!!')

normal (imo), just reassure yourself it's a sign of a good imagination

Could be the noise factor. Both mine hate the noise of those kinds of things. My ds has only started to use a vac over the last year and he's 13.My7yr old dd still hates it.
Seems quite normal in this house

Totally normal, IME. dd1's list included trains, bells, owls, small boys - none of which lasted more than a few weeks at most

I tended to validate her feeling and give her a hug/reassurance, whilst modelling how unscary those things were. To my best ability (one small boy of my acquaintance makes me quail in my boots ).

Thanks for the responses. I did wonder if it was a noise thing as he's had sensitive ears since his recent cold, but as i say, he's previously been fine with everything up till now, and even has his own toy Dyson and food mixer.

Belgo - he was genuinely scared this morning when i went to get the lawn mower out of the garage. He ran back into the conservatory literally screaming, tears running down his face, and wouldn't settle till i'd put the thing away again. Still, it was a good excuse not to cut the grass
